Meet Endless

Postby -- Tobias -- » Fri Sep 21, 2012 8:01 am

Here'a a recording of Endless being ... well ... Endless.

http://sfcon.demoszenen.de/dcrec/2012-0 ... _03.38.zip

I don't think I should have to explain the purpose of a 2v2 game (again), but the obvious objective is team win. Who, besides Endless, thinks otherwise?

So, watch the replay and get to know Endless. The fact that I always call him out for being ... well ... Endless, pisses him off greatly. This explains all his snide comments on my other forum postings. Yes boys and girls, name calling is his last resort.

But on to the action:

(I relate this with some trepidation because I can't stand the fact that I will be educating such a moron in the process; but "for the good of all" I will make this sacrifice.)

It's me (Africa) and Endless (EU) against two noobs (:)) as South America and North America. I adopt an admittedly reckless strategy, but it works.

0. Endless's woosie placement of silos far east concerns me. Why give any cities away? Think positive son: we will not be scouted. But, whatever, he plays like a woosie robot. More important to keep symmetrical lines than to do anything.

1. 2v2 game. Simple strategy, double one opponent. I place the bulk of my fleet in North Atlantic and presto, at defcon 3 it is apparent (to skilled players) that our team has obtained a significant tactical advantage because South America's entire fleet (sans some subs) is in the south. Such advantages need to be exploited quickly. My fleet is already pressing forward, so I say "push forward." His reply: "don't tell me what to do." OK, I say to myself, this player has issues beyond this game.

2. In defending against my sub push, it is apparent (to skilled players) that North America has placed his carriers on anti-sub, thus making them vulnerable. Endless, obviously oblivious to this situation, asks "why are you throwing your bombers right at them?" I answer, "because [you are not and] his carriers are on anti-sub mode" and proceed to clear the North Atlantic of every single North American vessel, forcing North America to immediately launch his silos, while simultaneously partially scouting South America, (at a cost, certainly, but more on that later).

3. This opens the door for Endless to do whatever he pleases, uncontested in the North Atlantic. You can decide for yourself if he took full advantage of the opportunity afforded him.

4. A failed North American launch sealed the game, so it is uncertain whether my subsequent launch "forced" South America to launch or not; the game was already decided.

5. Endless had a good silo launch, taking out all the remaining enemy silos. But let's not get carried away with that: killing revealed silos with no radar is standard procedure. Nonetheless, he did it and that was good.

6. Once both territories were cleared of silos, I launch my last remaining silo, only to be accused of "stealing his points." OMG. How many times do people need to be told that 2v2 is not ffa, and there are no individual points!?!

7. Endless proceeds to kill my surfaced subs to deny me, at team expense, from getting additional points.

8. As I said, I paid a big price to clear the North Atlantic, committing a lot of bomber nukes there, as well as to the end-game defense against the inevitable South American sub launch, allowing Endless the luxury of using his bomber nukes for points. So of course it was expected that he should score the most points on the team. If I had wanted to be high scorer I would have played like ... well ... like South America!

So in case you haven't met, here's your introduction to Endless. And now you will understand some of his other behaviors as well.

I took pictures! Here they are:

1. That is the setting. The players are Endless (Randy Marsh) as Europe plus Tobias (John d'Nuke) as Africa versus Skynet as NA and Skelethor as SA. The Europe silos were set first (without any communication). Interesting thing Tobi did by sending nearly all his subs in front against NA. I am too stupid to understand the fleet in Indian (you can see it again on image 5), the one in north pacific was due to a clicking error by Skynet.
Image

2. Besides the spastic alliance chat you see pinging subs on NA coast making Skynet think it would be a good idea to set all CVs on antisub mode. At the same time Skelethor has free hands in Africa. Endless' fleet is holding a nice (and effective) formation and moving slowly over the sea.
Image

3. Short before Defcon 1 Tobias sends a bunch of bombers to kill NA's CVs. Great move! Skelthor's bombers start meanwhile from the atlantic fleet.
Image

4. Now zoom to south atlantic. Skelethor starts to believe his luck that there is really no defense in his direction. Watch the beginning seanuke in the upper part of the image. Very effective.
Image

5. Tobias launches silos against SA destroying one silo, radars and airfields. Ah, and hitting cities, sure. Watch the remainder of Endless' fleet and as special gimmick the multiple (6?) sub stack close to the eastcoast. It costs Skynet a bit later about two shoots only to kill all of them. Tobi's arabic fleet still is holding position against Somalian pirates?

6. Final score. High victory for Endless and Tobias.

Comment: Endless played his own game without any interest in synchronizing strategy. However, he is really skilled and it was working out. Tobias adapted somehow very quickly to the actual situation(s): Setting his silos after seeing the European ones, rushing his bombers in front, killing most of NA's fleet. Endless on the other hand did a very nice silo killing (even if spectator CZA has different opinion if that was necessary at all). Then both "allies" scored points. If you two guys would have talked to each other, I would say it was a victory due to good idea and teamwork. It is not, as you were not talking but argueing like an old couple.

If you two are already so entertaining as allies I'm really looking forward to seeing you as enemies!

PS: And Skelthor did a nice gameplay, Skynet is learning. I am sure if he stays with Defcon he will be a very good player in some months.
PPS: Thanks Tobias for advertising this masterpiece of communication!

Edit: Sorry, I forget to say: Endless, in a 2v2 points are really meant to be added. This operation is done by pressing the "+" key on your calculator. This is no diplo game!

I actually like the unbiased opinion. Here is my explanation for doing things like i did and my attitude:

1. I was very drunk, like i am on all my off-days from work.

2. I knew we were going to win so in my drunken state, i wanted to score as many points as possible so i could "up" my ranking in FY's ranking thing. I'll never do that again.

3. The angry bitter part of me last night: Honestly thats the way i am on this game. I like to play the heel. And my drunken stupor only intensified the effect.

4. The killing of Tobias' one sub: Stupid of me and he's right selfish. We were already up and I at that point was frustrated with thinking i was the only one working this game.

5. Tobias regardless of me being a troll, you are skilled at this game and a better strategist, as our game pointed out. But you are still a thunder cunt, douche bag, son of a whore. You always have to bitch and moan about everything that you dont agree with and that makes you a cunty little fuck and everyone agrees. If they dont agree then you all should be twins.

That being said it was a pleasure playing with you last night. I admit i was wrong in some aspects of the game. Still, Go fuck yourself fat virgin.

Hey DeafCom, it wasn't such a good game that it required such graphics. But since you do such a fine independent analysis, I will give you a heads up when I come across one that does deserve an in-depth treatment.

I know. I too hate leaving ships out of the action; but, as I said before, these were necessarily dedicated to defense. This was the single location that was most vulnerable to the entire team. As it turned out, there was indeed intense action there with the inevitable final sub launch attempt. Simply put, this mini kampfgruppe preserved our victory.
