Nuke School—Disunion

Postby cza » Fri May 11, 2012 6:33 am

Instructors: CZA & Alabama Hammer
Pupils: Castle & Dr. Strangelove.

Today's installment features an old lesson and a new nemesis. Warning: Contains graphic material of hot noob-on-noob action!

Drs. CZA & Hammer faced off against unfamiliar foes. Proof of our initial caution, as well as the supreme confidence of our enemy:

I agreed with Dr. Hammer's remark, "I don't think he is new." http://umlaut.wikispaces.com/file/detail/01.ns.worry.jpg

However, it quickly became apparent Castle was new to Nuke School, and that perhaps our adversaries were equally worried. Note the time stamps:

So by Defcon 1, here is the game state. Note the enemy's setup and strange happenings around the Bering Strait:

About thirty minutes later, Castle had been thoroughly schooled. Note Hammer's amazing U2 flight over all of Castle's airbases:

An hour later, the next victim arrived, with some interesting orders for his aircraft:

Apparently he had forgotten a very old lesson about coming at CZA via the Arctic usually being a very bad idea. In fact, he was convinced he would be taking me to school—dance class, to be precise:

Thanks Mom; I knew those dance lessons would come in handy:

But Strangelove wished to dance again, except this time I took the lead:

The end result: Failure.

This was my response to a private-chat brief against me that essentially accused me of several crimes: 1) I allied with Hammer to avoid the noob; 2) I am a fake pro and 3) I only ally with the best players, which is the only way I am able to win. Alas, Strangelove disconnected rather than answer my question, but from what I can tell, he is none other than past Nuke School Instructor Cumiro! My once ally, now my nemesis! (cue music!):

To recap:
1) Cumiro (or someone good pretending to be him) is now my nemesis.
2) I have never claimed to be "pro," but I am the Noob King. Tread lightly, Noobs!
3) Generally, bad things happen to those who come at me via the arctic. And in this particular game, it would have been better to make a strong showing against Hammer.
4) I do ally with some very good players, but my only true "automatic" alliance is with Edward, since we hardly ever see each other and work well together. I have allied with noobs, noobs far worse than Castle, plenty of times, and spent my fair share of time instructing. My alliance priority is territory and people I like.
5) As for only being able to win with good players, I'm not sure what to say about that. I win with good players and I prefer to play against good players. What does it say that good players like to ally with me? Also, in this game, not only did I destroy Castle in short order, I then thumped you. Finally, perhaps this was one-in-a-million, but I offer a game from today as evidence:
