Mouse (?) lag is killing me!

Postby rus|Mike » Tue May 03, 2011 12:48 am

==> I tried updating my video card driver, mouse driver, small font mod, nothing helped.

The lag is not present always, it only comes up sometimes, from what I see, in middle to heavy load scenes. But it can go away in the very same scene, so it feels like it comes and goes for no particular reason. It feels like a mouse lag but can be overall lag, I just don't have any means of telling what exactly it is. It feels like the mouse pointer reactions in game are sometimes way slower than actual mouse movements or slower than how mouse pointer in Windows would move.

I tried disabling anti-aliasing and it felt like it become somewhat better (but is still terrible).

My config (the hardware capabilities themselves shouldn't be a limiting factor):
CPU: i7 930
Video: GTX 460 1 GB
MB: GigaByte GA-X58A-UD3R
RAM: 3xOCZ OCZ3P16006GK
OS: Windows 7

Defcon runs @ 2560x1440

It's output lag. Defcon makes no effort to sync the GPU pipeline, it just keeps sending new commands, so several frames of data can accumulate unrendered in the buffers. Two ways to combat: in the NVidia control panel, there's a "Max frames rendered ahead" or something setting, reduce that to zero. And disable VSync. That doesn't make the problem better in terms of frames of lag, but since it will probably push your framerate to insane heights, reduce the lag time.

Thanks Bert, force disabling VSync in nVidia Control Panel solved the problem! :D :D

Postby Minuteman 2 » Sat Jan 28, 2012 10:42 am

Hi Guys,

I have just purchased the game also and once i load a game the mouse lag is painfull. I have read some of the posts on here ( update drivers etc) but nothing seems to work. Even if i disable most of the graphics it doesn't do much better. Below is me PC details. Any advice would be much appreciated.

Cheers!

Windows 7 64 bit
Intel Core 2 Quad 2.67 ghz
4 gig of RAM
Nvidia Geforce 9800 GT

The solution suggestions above are all we have, sorry.
Unless, of course, you want to help test completely broken, unsupported and unofficial beta versions of a community build which I think should fix this problem: http://forums.introversion.co.uk/defcon ... php?t=8019
