Connection Problem/Cannot Start a Game

Postby Seraph045 » Fri Mar 11, 2011 11:19 pm

I just downloaded the DEFCON Demo off Steam after remembering how fun it was. Well, it doesn't run.

The program starts fine and authenticates, but once I start a game I cannot add an AI player, close any slots, select any countries, or start a game. If I run the Tutorial or Rolling Demo, I get a big red message across the map that says Connection Problem (X Secs).

Windows is set to allow Defcon through my firewall, though I tried running it with the firewall disabled and it had no effect.

I am running on Windows 7 32 bit.

(No graphical problems of any sort.)

Clicking on New Game brings up a chat window but no window with game options like adding AI Players? This is indeed a networking problem (very likely).
Here is a list of general recommendations: http://www.introversion.co.uk/defcon/su ... blems.html

I dont have any ideas, but maybe just your local network (the loopback device) is affected, did you try to connect to an online game?

Clicking on New Game does bring up the window with game options, but none of the options are responsive -- I.E. I cannot add players, select countries, etc.

However, in multiplayer, the game DOES work! I just have a problem with interactivity with the awaiting player/closed slot multiplayer menu. Strange.

EDIT: Thank you for the prompt reply. If service is this good, I'll buy the game when that first paycheck comes in :P
