Strange boxes?

I noticed while playing defcon, if i change the name of my player, or server (or any other thing that i can change using typing) i get these odd boxes like spaces. It seems to happen when the cursor blinks, if i backspace all the way and dont type i get a bunch of them to appear when the cursor flashes. Here are some pics:







I have version 1.43 (just purchased it today) and i even tried the patch over that, same deal.

Any ideas?

Those are usually illegal characters the font cannot display. How they are created in your scenario beats me, however.
