Having just watched the Second round game 3, I am withdrawing from the tournament.
I believe that all rules of defcon were obeyed, and no cheating went on. However I also think that to make a ceasefire with another player and then allow that player to take your points, while you do the same to his territory is gamesmanship that I will have nothing to do with. Two players reap almost total points from a continent while defending silos target 'enemy' nukes only.
I anticipate that people will state that this is possible to do in defcon and therefore is sanctioned by the game, and so i do not ask for the match to be replayed. However in protest (cos I'm a self righteous Scotsman) I am withdrawing from Round 3.

Like I said earlier, this way you and your 'partner' can win anything. I do consider it cheating btw.
And I also resign.

I'm honest enough to say I'd thought about using it myself. Not fair, not right etc but its there and EU/USSR used it successfully to win.
And to be brutally honest, if China and Africa were better prepared for strikes on EU/USSR at Defcon1, the impact would of been reduced. The lack of incoming attacks made it work perfectly.
Selfish and underhanded and what the Michael Schumacker's of the world successfully did for years i.e. everything not covered by the rules to win.
I don't think its right - but it ain't wrong.

I played like shit, due to no sleep.
I will not comment on wether I think this strat is cheating or not, but I think it is a procedure that bypasses the whole meaning of the game, cancelling out the skills needed to win fair and square.
The player(s) who did this are good enough to make enough valid points of their own, so why skip the process of attaining them like u usually do?
I don't really care, I lost because I had a lousy night, but there's a fine line between poor sportsmanship and cheating.

-First you wanna kill me. Now you wanna kiss me?? BLOW!
*has no idea whats been talked about* was too busy on my side of the world with Diomedes (sorry again but i wasnt climbing the score chart fast enough), everything i had either hit too late or was wandering around
This tournament is the first and should probably at best be considered just an experiement and groundworks for better procedures, including whats counted as cheating or unfair play etc. Id like if you kept playing homeowner but i cannot force you
Do it for the game!

Nothing strickly wrong tbh.
Two players formed an 'unofficial' alliance i.e. they did not allie in game, but had a ceasefire. They then proceded to nuke each others cities for quick, high points and did'nt get any of the colateral penalties by officially joining forces.
Easy points and loads of munitions for gaining additional points from other countries to qualify in a knockout match. No rule in the game or tourney against it, just a 'work-a-around' to qualify for the tourney final.

I've kinda let the people and Ace organise stuff unless something needed my attention, but something seems to have gone terribly wrong.
Played game 3 tonight, all but one player turned up, someone subbed for them. i think apparently 2 players allied and one nuked the others units (silos etc) whilst they were allied? not sure if thats what theyre talking about or not and homeowner (for his own reasons) has bowed out.

So what are the results?
And I am .. so .. sad that Homeowner, Radiant and Weps are out of the tournament ... mwuhahaha EASIER FOR A HANK VICTORY.
I don't think anyone cheated in my game, but I do absolutely agree with that is a dirty dirty dirty tactic and one that should never be used.
NAME THEM.
SHAME!!!!!
