Help!!! Name of the 3D nuc war game from 5-10 years ago?

Postby barbarossa2 » Mon May 21, 2007 8:53 am

I posted here not too long ago about 3D games on nuclear war.

Someone in here mentioned that something like this had been done several years back on a 3D globe. They even posted a link to an old review. I think the game had satellites and nuclear war and pollution (I think) and more.

Does anyone remember the name of this game now and maybe even the site where to look up the review again?

Ace? I think it may have been you who posted as well.

Thanks!

Chris

I believe the game you're thinking of is MAD: Global Thermonuclear Warfare.

It's available as PC Version and abandonware. I think it runs native on XP, if not try dosemu (http://dosemu.sourceforge.net/)

Jesus, to get the Amiga Emulators to work you need a degree in software engineering...

Why Amiga Emulator? (Although UAE actually works nice if you can manage to find a Kickstart/ROM...). But if it's about nuclear war, try here: http://www.the-underdogs.info/game.php?gameid=777

Note HOTU doesn't have it available for download, rather linking to a site where it can be purchased. Also note that the fourth result in the Google search I linked to above may or may not be more useful. Finally, note that linking to a site of dubious legality, whether 'abandonware' or not, is poor netiquette, particularly on the forums of a commercial company.

This is what you mean:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SuperPower_2

Looks nice, plays awful. (I had no clue what to do, or how to do that. Playing the free demo that is.)

You can find a video on youtube (iraq/korea in the title) which got me to get the demo in the first place. The game looked promising (esp the nuke blasts) but in the demo, you cant use nukes...

Yes! It was MAD: Globalthermonuclear warfare. I think it was Ace Rimmer who recommended I research this for a project of mine about 2 months ago!

Thanks!

Actually, I was the one who suggested it. I did so here:
