IV Meetup 2009?

Postby NeoThermic » Mon Jan 19, 2009 1:40 pm

Ok, so after the release party last year for Multiwinia, most of us who went considered it an uber idea if we had a general meetup in the future, even if there's no game exactly to meet about.

So, this topic will try ascertain the month at which would be best. I'm looking for the month where you could make it (2.0 doesn't have multi-option polls, curse me for being slow to upgrade!), so vote accordingly.

The meetup should be in London (if this'll factor in to when you can/can't make it), and will run over a weekend.

So without further ado, vote!

Yes! ;)

Well, end of April is possible for me (from the 25th till pretty much May 2nd). After that, the next possible option will be July, but it'll be really difficult to fit that in with my three-week trip to the States in the same month - it'll probably become August pretty quickly that way.

Also, fucking hell, this is gonna be hard on my budget... :P

Im going to assume most UK based people are going to say they are around on 12th April as this is Easter. so if they are off Uni then, will they be free for the end?

The whole London thing makes it a bit hard, but I came in here anyway just to mention phpBB3.

I'm going to refrain to vote for two reasons:

1) I'm unsure whether I would feel like attending. Especially if there is no launch party involved.
2) I'm on a grant until the end of April, meaning that a) I may not be able to to attend before that as I may be busy trying to get stuff done, and b) my life after that point is unpredictable.

So, I just came here to say that that sounds like a good idea, but that unless you decide to move it to portugal I'm unlikely to attend :P

Well, Eurostar once again seems to be my cheapest way out, and with the current Pound exchange rate it seems to be cheaper than before. Granted, that does not include hotel nights, but I guess we will be able to sort out something together as long as we do it in time.

Now that you mention Easter...the weekend from 10 through 13 April, I'll also have a short Easter holiday. It basically makes it a long weekend due to Good Friday and Easter, so that means I won't have to return after staying in London for one day (which would be a "once again" thing :P). So yeah, also possible. :)

I'd prefer the summer hols, but I might be able to do easter, depending on how other plans work out (or more appropriately, don't work out since I'm busy all easter if they do :P)

Have you looked at Sterling recently? :(

Also, I'd like an "anytime so long as I don't have exams" option, seeing as I live in London anyways. :)

The appropriate answer from a non-Brit is "yes, it's even weaker than the dollar". ;)

Well, relatively speaking anyway. The pound has never (in my memory) been this phenomenally low before. The dollar, on the other hand, has had its ups and downs.
