The place to hang out and talk about totally anything general.

Should Northern Ireland be granted independence from the United Kingdom?

I've just been reading Radiant Caligua's gun control thread and was wondering what everyone else felt.

P.S. Do you like my L337? It's a new thing for me...

I think the mess in NI could have been avoided had the UK given independence to NI after 70 years, giving the Protestants time to move out. However, considering Mr. Blair's change to catholicism & the UK being, according to the Daily Telegraph "a Catholic Nation" [Sun 23 Dec 07], maybe it wouldn't be the best answer.

Honestly I say let Northern Ireland take care of itself. Ireland has no interest at this point, and I don't think the UK does either. Since the fighting has pretty much stopped I'm sure they can govern themselves.

Probably could fully govern ourselves but I doubt too many of our politicians would be too willing to cut the umbilical cord with the rest of the UK.
