RELEASE DAY!!!! Darwinia in stores in the UK

Postby Chris » Fri Mar 04, 2005 1:04 am

Today is the 4th March 2005, the launch day of Darwinia. From this moment onwards Darwinia will be available to the public to buy, and Introversion's fate will be decided. It's out of our hands now, and it's up to you to spread the word. If you like what we are doing, please give the demo to as many as your friends as you can.

If you live in the UK and you do not wish to buy Darwinia direct from our website, you can instead buy the game from most high-street games stores which will be stocking the game starting today. The complete shop list includes:

Game
HMV
Virgin
Gamestation
PC World
Gameplay
Choices

And all decent independent games stores.

The version in shops is the Windows PC version only. The linux version will be released as a free patch download on this site which makes the Windows version playable on Linux (ie a new binary). The Mac version will be downloadable and buyable online only from Ambrosia Software.

We actually made it!

What I'm about to say is of too few words.

Congratulations!

All through the years, from the moment you started coding Uplink, I highly doubt anyone would think that you would get here. Despite most of the industry *cough*EA*cough* turning you away, you powerd on, and have come up with something that is going to really make other studios wish and beg for you :)

You've made it though, and I for one am thrilled with it, hehe :D

Kudos to IV team and all beta testers! (me excluded) . It sure is nice to see you guys finally pull it off! Hope Darwinia will be a big success overseas as well, not just in the UK and US. Cheers!

The big day's finally come. Great to see it. :)

As far as the Mac version, I imagine it'll either be up today, or tomorrow. (since tomorrow is the 4th where ASW is.)

To Introversion, Chris, Andrew, Mark, Tom and John, and the rest of you guys who've done everything else and done so well, along with my fellow beta testers who've done a great job through-and-through: Major congratulations on this day. Give yourselves a pat on the back , you've made it, you've pulled it off and given to the World a fantastic masterpiece that will be fondly remembered (and played) for years to come!

Says March 2005... yay! I almost have reason enough to switch to Linux! If only Project64 worked on Linux tho... bah.

News just in:

As customers began to enter shops in the UK, hundreds were BLINDED by the GREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEN of the case.

Seriously, when the stores got their shipments of Darwinia, it would have been like reenacting a scene from Raiders of the Lost Ark :D

Congratulations - seems like hardly any time ago that Darwinia was actually announced.
Don't think about The Game.
