More magazine coverage as Darwinia nears completion

Postby Chris » Thu Jan 06, 2005 5:03 pm

In this months PC Gamer (UK January 2005 issue) there is a half page piece out Darwinia in their Preview of games due in 2005. It's made up of a half page interview with Chris (um, me) and a short paragraph which we think is by Tim Edwards, and a screenshot.

Darwinia also shows up in second place in their "Your Most Wanted Games" list, just behind GTA:SanAndreas and just ahead of Halo2. Last month I think we were in 11th, just missed the top 10, but it seems you've been voting. And we didn't even encourage you guys this time : )

And we're still not quite done, as our previous game Uplink gets a mention in their Extra-Life section, listing the best of the Mods that are available for the game.

Hehe, once again we'd like to thank PC Gamer : )

This months Edge Magazine (January 2005 issue) comes with a 2005 calendar, and Darwinia takes up the December 2005 page with a lovely snowscape taken straight from the game. Definately worth a look.

Hopefully we'll have scans of those articles soon.

We are definitely approaching the end of development now. There's still some work to be done but everything is on track for a March 4th release online and in shops. We're all working very long hours at the moment to ensure we meet that date. If everything goes to plan this will give us a final development time for Darwinia of just under 34 months, or 1020 days. WOW!

It's amazing how Darwinia managed to bypass so many games and get into 2nd place of the Most Wanted! O_O

Kudos to you all, IV. Kudos smothered in gravy!

Isn't it amazing to see Darwinia racing from the underground to the toplist of PC Gamer... proves that innovation has not become a minor element in the gaming scene after all :D

Best of luck to IV in the next few months.
I'll try and finish the game ASAP *curses current level and the virii* ^^

We need more stats! E.g. what percentage of those days started with a hangover, how many days you spent playing doom 3, etc :P

I'll take a look at Edge once it gets into the college library, I'll also try and get a scan.

Damn... you guys should find a reason to make development last an extra four days.

I was thinking the exact same thing..."I would be so happy if development was 4 days longer". However, in an attempt not to lose face I decided not to say anything :p

Heh. 1028.

I was really surprised how quickly the time passed between Darwinia's announcement and its completion. I haven't really been active on these forums, but I intend to become more so now that there is somthing to discuss. All i can say is, bring on March 4th!
