Analogue Darwinia?

Postby Chris » Wed Aug 11, 2004 9:48 am

A close friend of mine who is a very talented artist recently finished a new painting - inspired by a screenshot of darwinia! The finished picture is now hanging on my living room wall, and looks absolutely fantastic. She maintains a page on DeviantArt with all of her recent paintings, including this one, so I highly recommend you take a look. Click on the thumbnail for a link.

Yes, this could be poster #2. I would buy them, but as per the other threads, you would have to start accepting paypal :P

Chris, does your friend do this as a hobby or for a living? Because if it's just a hobby, I would seriously recommend to her that she do this for a living. That is simply amazing. I couldn't even tell a difference between the screenshot and the painting (which I suppose is the whole point )!

Wow, she has some real skill there. In a way, the painting actually looks better than the screenshot of the game. It's got that little scratchy look to it that makes things look a little less right in a digital scene. :D
I also had a look at some of the other pictures she had on there; that one "Chris", I presume is named after you, is pretty damn fine too!
Anyway, I'm keeping a watch on here now... I'd like to see if she can produce anything else Darwinia-esque.

Very nice indeed. But IMHO, Darwinia is to be digital, not analouge. And although the painting looks great, I wouldn't want to see that kind of art in the game. Well, perhaps on a FOT:BOS basis (a big book, and in it pictures of the progressing story - something like intros, outros and movies between chapters)

Overall, great.

That is actually one wicked idea, making the entire game box in a painted style.
