Support Introversion

Postby Chris » Mon Aug 09, 2004 3:36 pm

Introversion Software is not an ordinary developer. It has no premises, no focus groups, no risk analysis and no market experts. What it has is a group of people committed to finding new ways to make new types of games. We are not interested in creating "original intellectual property" or "unique selling points" or "innovative and compelling gameplay" for the benefit of the marketing team. We exist in the fond memory of the games industry before the global mega publisher...the days when those buzz words actually meant something, when it was still possible to make your voice heard above the noise.

We are trying, desperately hard, to do things differently. We do not want to contribute to the stagnation of the games industry. We don't measure the value of our games in their potential sales revenue. Our business model doesn't involve "consolidating" any developers. We are the last of the bedroom programmers, and there is nobody here to help us.

Except you. You are the only thing that stands between Introversion and the end that has befallen so many like-minded developers, and we need your help. We believe in what we are doing, and we hope you do too. We are not a charity, and we do not expect hand outs, but we do feel able to ask you for your support. If you agree with our philosophy, and you want to help us succeed, please, buy one of our over-priced posters.

Did IV advertise the posters anywhere except on the main site?
The more people know, the more people might get interested

Well... i haven't got money at the moment, but I've already told all my friends about darwinia and they will buy it, so that counts as a little support to, right?

Well, I've paid for 3 so far :D Got the money back off people for 2 of them. If I could afford more, I would ;)

Could you do the whole posters in underground stations again?

I ordered 1, and I am trying to get some of my friends to have a look at darwinia.

I would certainly buy more posters, if anymore are released and possibly this one again, cos its just so good.

Am I the only one who has noticed the rather suspect timing of this money crunch? I had thought it was just a coincidence that IV suddenly needed this money around the time Doom III came out, but then today when I checked the Dawinia Roadmap I noticed that Doom III was on it! Heh, perhaps we should just start an IV Video Game Junky fund to support these guys.

Although I do think we should support independant game developers (who put out good stuff) like IV as much as possible, I am sure they have to pay rent and eat in addition to playing Doom III. :)

Icepick has said on IRC that he's planning to do exactly what you said, edd. I'm not sure when he'll get round to it though...
