New patches available for Windows and Linux: v1.31

Postby Chris » Sun Sep 01, 2002 12:00 am

New patches available for Windows and Linux : v1.3

This is effectively a bug-fix patch, built on top of the big Nakatomi patch we released a month ago. This is version 1.3 - it fixes numerous small and large bugs and hopefully doesn't introduce any new ones ;) Linux users have had the most changes this time round, with completely re-written graphics and sound back-ends to use SDL. Uplink should work much better this time round. Thanks to the Linux Beta testers who helped us get that working.

This patch will install on any version of Uplink - simply unzip onto your Uplink directory. You don't need to re-install Uplink. You don't need to restart your users - they will be compatible.

As usual, download the patches from the Other Files page.

Primary changes (See a full list of changes here)

- There is no longer any need to start a new Agent when you wish to add a LAN. New LAN text files will be detected on startup and added automatically to your existing game.

- Fixed Bug that made the Voice Analyser vanish in 640x480

- Fixed : Shiny Hammer mission was almost impossible in v1.2 (incorrect information given)

- Linux : Fixed DOS text file problems that affected theming, gateways and LANs

- Linux : Graphics back-end re-written to use openGL/SDL

- Linux : Sound back-end re-written to use SDL_Mixer

How do I boot Linux when windows is hibernated? I want to be able to hibernate Windows, then boot Linux so that I can quickly boot Windows when I need to. Problem is, when Windows is hibernated, the computer boots to Windows automatically without showing an OS selection screen. How do I fix this?

Ok let's start with the first major problem. What you are asking has nothing to do with Uplink.
Second major problem. What you are asking is impossible as anyone with an ounce of computer knowledge could tell you. Put it back in the box, you're too stupid to use it.

Third, this topic was posted in 2002, this is 2009. You fail on an epic level. Here, let's give you a picture to show how bad you failed.

You better not boot into Linux at all. It's unhealthy for spambots.

(Dammit. This bump made me think for a second MW for Linux was out.)

I was wondering why they decided to release a new Uplink patch now.

I doubt too many people are in a rush to assume malice.

You guys do realise this is a bot, right?

Really soon a second one will explain how this is possible. Which I doubt will be in any way useful/possible.

Never attribute to malice that which can be attributed to stupidity or incompetence. Trolling requires malice. The uber-necro-bump did not.

Really? I thought "troll" referenced to how thick the poster was-I.E; as thick as a troll.
