Just noticed (after all this time), completely by accident, that you can target a nuke in flight with a nuke from your silo...I didn't notice if they met each other...

Really? There's no statistic for fighter vs nuke in the game. Thusly the odds equate to 0. Please post a screenshot or other proof of this event, as it was extensively tested and found not to happen.

We know how to do it (ie make fighters attack nukes) but can you show proof of successful destruction of a nuke by a fighter?

I mean what are the chances of getting a screenshot right at the point of distruction?
One of the images lying around here somewhere is a picture of about 40 to 50 fighters follwing a nuke just as it impacts on its target. The image clearly showed that nukes can't be shot down by fighters. Each fighter would have managed to fire at least three, possibly four times, so the odds are certainly rather impossible. (Consider the highest odds in the game are fighters vs subs at a 3% chance).
A success screenshot would have to show the nuke in-flight, in-flight with the fighters engaging it, and a shot showing the explosion of the nuke caused by the fighters (and possibly one taken a few seconds "afterwards" to prove the nuke is gone).
