Having trouble installing Uplink

Just having an issue installing my copy of Uplink, which I got as a download from Strategy First. This is the first time I've tried to install it since I upgraded from Windows XP to Windows Vista. I'm running Windows Vista Ultimate 64 bit edition with an NVidia 9800GTX video card. The game appears to install properly, but immediately pops up a "Uplink.exe has stopped working" message whenever I try to run the program. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Unfortunately the Strategy First version is not supported at all here. To see why please read the following topic you can find here.

All we can advise is you request your money back and purchase the version direct from Introversion.

Can anyone guarantee that the game will install for me after I buy it from Introversion's website? I've bought this game twice, once already directly from Introversion, and I am willing to pay for it one more time, however I see from this forum that I'm not the only one with this problem. Having already paid twice (once a lot more then the game was worth thanks to custom fees before Introversion allowed direct downloads) I just need some assurance that this will be the last time I have to buy the same game. Thanks.

Well no, I cannot. However I can offer some suggestions.

1) Make sure you are running it in administrator mode.
2) Make sure you've set the compatability mode to Windows XP.

Bar that not much else I can advise. Also if you've already bought it from IV site, you don't need to buy it again, just install that one that you already have. Find your details you should be able to download it again without too much of an issue.
