Interesting behavior if you abandon CounterAttack

Hello,

I accidentally abandoned the CounterAttack, but kept disinfecting systems. Uplink downgraded me and I didn't get paid. As expected.

But if I destroy a machine now with Revelation, the news story that revelation was stopped in its tracks shows up and Arunmor e-mails me after the machine disinfected itself. Still no money anyway.

In the meantime, the Andromeda leader had ten press releases, six of them in jail, he got jailed while he was in jail seven times and if I want to get a few e-mails not from Uplink, I'm just re-running the storyline by infecting a machine with Revelation and wait.

In other words, the end of the storyline can be repeated. Any ideas how to stop this behaviour or at least why this happened exactly?
