resolution screw up

Postby martin » Mon Feb 25, 2008 5:57 pm

I just installed uplink on my laptop, and I played for a while all fine. When I was coming off I fiddled with the resolution (raised it to a proper widescreen res) and now whenever I start the game half of it is not drawn (on the login screen) and the mouse pointer is not drawn where I am actually clicking (the actual click location is somewhere above the mouse) - which makes it impossible to click on buttons at the bottom of the screen - like Gfx settings for example :(
I tried reinstalling in a different location but it's still doing the same thing so I guess it must be a registry stored value or something :s

its possible you have it at too high or too low a resolution

or your screen loses its alignement when the game starts

try a lower resolution

or use the auto adjust function in your moniter settings (on the actual moniter, not in control panel)

I can't change resolution because the mouse can't get that low down the screen :P
and it's a laptop so there are no intrinsic monitor settings ><

There should be a prefs file in your Uplink directory somewhere. Quit Uplink, delete the file, and restart Uplink.

Yeah the 'options' file in 'users' Uplink sub-directory.

there is no prefs file, I deleted "options" in the users folder with no affect.

in the main uplink directory I have:
changes
data
fonts
graphics
loading
mods
music
opengl32
patch
readme
sounds
tcp4w32
unist
uplink.exe
gl32
world
glut32

Do you run Vista?

If yes, check for Uplink somewhere hidden on your hard disk.

Could be there:
C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files (x86)\Uplink\users
