Game: DEFCON 1980 ~ A work in progress

Postby zach » Fri Nov 24, 2006 9:49 pm

DEFCON 1980 [0.5]

A spinoff Defender-esque game, 87.3% compatible with DEFCON.
It is a work in progress, and as such, lacks a few very basic things, most importantly timing.

This means that the game will run at a speed relative to the raw power of your box. For now, anyway. I can't finish it at the time being, and thought someone might want to have a look at it. It's nothing big, but I was immensely bored ( as you might've guessed  )

Here's a single screen for ya;

The game is obviously inspired by this wallpaper by Kuth.

Source
Available here (view online). (Please note that line 46 produces an obvious compile error and should be removed. I can't change it as of now)
DEFCON 1980 is Open Source, released under the GNU GPL. I haven't included the source with the .zip file, so this is the only way to get it. Instructions for use/compilation (as well as basic comments) are in the source.

~

Enjoy :)

You got all the way to level 7 before it got boring? XD

I'd say it's quite boring as it is ... Though if you dig a tiny bit into the source code, you should find some random stuff. Actually, I ought to recompile a version I had fun with earlier. I'll do that when I have more time ;)

Port it yourself. ;) (I'm thinking of having a go at porting this to Linux, but as I have little programming experience (Pascal, anyone?) I wouldn't hold your breath, anyone.)

The last programming language that I had anything to do with was BASIC on an Apple II. I think that porting this game is a bit beyond my abilities.

Hmm. I continued working on this. It has timing now, and I figured I might as well work on that shop thing, just for fun XD (ooh multishell)

Will be a while though, if ever

I have returned from the dead to say:

YES!

And NeoThermic was the one, IIRC, who said he'd have to do this. Kudos to you sir :)

This is what happens when coursework gets in the way of life. Ah well, I still plan to do mine, as I was taking a different approch, and my code will be linux and mac compatable :P
