Deleted files, but told I didn't ?

As part of a mission given by SIM Corp, I was assigned to "Break into thier main computer system and delete ALL files on thier system". I connected, disabled the firewall, diabled the proxy, hacked in, but instead of deleting files through the "Browse Files" section, I instead connected through Admin to the Console, browsed to 'usr' and used a 'delete' command to clear out the directory. I then browsed to 'log' and deleted all my log entries and disconnected.

Immediately after I disconnected, I replied and promptly was replied to, SIM Corp said "Mission NOT Completed: We have not heard word yet that the damage has been done."

What happened? Is there any way to complete the mission, I don't really want to abandon the mission for obvious reasons. My uplink is updated to 1.31 and I started a new profile after I patched.

I did it again, exactly the same mission but attacking Palmtop, and contracted by Bioware P/c.

During another mission to "put the computer system below out of action, permenantly." (the system to be attacked was the Datatek Inc Central Mainframe", contracted by Enzyme Microsystems). I hacked in, deleted two files the slow way (with File_Deleter through the browsing list) before realising I won't have enough time so I dropped into the console, deleted the contents of the log directory, deleted the contents of the sys directory, then shutdown the system (effectively pulling it offline for good).

Unfortunately, they don't think it's offline yet and won't pay me, so I'm stuck with two more missions I can't complete and would prefer not to Abandon.

Not a bug. You have to wait around 3 ours (game time) for news of the attack to appear on the Uplink internal services news board.

im afraid my infos are out dated but maybe someone will use this advice.
its not a bug. probably u didnt deleted all the files. using console comands is as good as deleting files manualy. u should attack the mainframe of corporation to destroy all backups [so to acomplish this mission u have to inflirtate two systems and remove files from their memmory]

They forgot to tell you, you also need to "cd" into the "sys" folder and delete the contents of that so...

cd usr <ENTER>
delete <ENTER>
cd <ENTER>
cd sys <ENTER>
delete <ENTER>
shutdown <ENTER>

Then wait for the news in the Uplink News site and then Reply to the email. I made the same mistake as you and never deleted the contents of the "sys" folder and that is why they keep telling you that you haven't done it yet.
