When I go to install Uplink onto my Windows 98 system(it worked fine on XP) I recieve a I/O installion error once the installion receaches the sounds.dat file.  I have retried many times and I can not seem to figure out what the problem is.  Anyone know how to help?

Could you post the Entire error message text, otherwise it is hard to say what it is.  :)

This is the exact message that appears- "An I/O error while installing a file.  This is normally caused by bad installation media or a corrupt installation file."

This has me really confused as I could install it on my other computer quite easily.

Well there are several things I can think of.  Here are a few:

1) Make sure you disable all antivirus utilities before beginning installation.

2) Disable any advance options for your hard drive (especially anything to do with PCI).

3) Make sure your RAM is good, bad RAM can give those errors.

If you do have it installed on another machine you could just copy the Uplink folder over.  :)
