Smegboy:
You know you've been playing too much Uplink when...

* You tell your friends to refer to you as 'Agent'

* You spend 3 hours working out how to bounce connections around the world manually, using Windows, just to access Yahoo! to do a search

* You fail your exams thinking you can easily modify your record on the International Academic Database later (whoops, did that one  )

* The biggest thing you've ever hacked is a Coke machine, but you still swagger around like Jeff K

* Last time your mobile beeped you were scared someone was tracing you

* You stop going to the local Tandy (computer store in Australia) because they dont stock Dictionary Hacker or Proxy Bypass software

* "Registered Uplink Agent" is written all over your Permanent Record. You know, because you did it.

* You cross your fingers when you recieve new emails, hoping for a job instead of more chain-mail crap

* When somone asks to see your computer, you correct them, calling it 'A Gateway'

* Your search for a harddrive capable of holding a 3 gigaquad file has proved pointless. Like you could ever make a 3 GQ file anyway....

Please feel free to add more, as far as I know this hasn't been done on this forum, and these can be pretty funny

Whenever you type something in to a form field you are careful to hold your mouse cursor over the field.

Yanno... if Ice locks this, it'll be so ironic...
Since he posted in it back in the days when he was a mere veteran... (albeit, with 1906 posts)

That would be interesting for someone to put into Uplink. Get chain-mail and spam attacks in your inbox. :)

Followed by letting you reap your revenge on the company so they can never e-mail you again.

You have calculated the exact exchange rate between credits and your currency

You ask your boss to pay you in credits instead of your currency

Your boss/ex has been arrested for something really silly/has silly convictions or academic results after really annoying u

You arrest yourself and wonder why it works this time.

You google for InterNIC and are surprised to actually find it.

'You google for InterNIC and are surprised to actually find it.'

Oops... did that me self...

When 'joshua' is your normal password for email.

When you find yourself looking on Google for an Uplink OS.

When you try to find out EXACTLY how much bigger a gigaquad is than a terrabyte.

When you go to a news board hoping to see the headline 'International Academic Database hacked again!'

Oh, I love this "You know you watch/play/eat/whatever too much <insert name here> when..."-stuff. ^_^ Lemme add a few:

* You try to crack a well-chosen password via brute-force and are somewhat surprised that the whole thing takes ages instead of a few seconds.

* You never take a new job if they can't assure you that you'll never ever have to meet your boss und fellow employees face-to-face. Instead, you insist on complete anonymity.

* You adjust the colors and styles of your favourite OS to mach those of the Uplink Operating System.
