[Suggestion] Planning move, rotate, copy, cut shortcuts
Greetings,
I would like to drop in a minor suggestion with planning mode. It would be awsome to have some kind of shortcuts like ctrl+left click drag to select an area (like in photoshop), and after that you could drag it, right click to rotate it, and ctrl c, ctrl v copy paste it. It would help really much, because I always try to make a nice plan before starting the prison, but always fail with one grid unit, and have to redo the whole thing. Or I cant just copy rotate and move a premade cell block module plan to outlay a new one. This would make planning much easier.
And just as an other note: I know about the changes in alpha10 with the new "thermometer" collective frustration, but I think I still should draw some attention on a loophole of the Maslow motivation model ingame.
In previous versions I encountered a catch-22 problem very often, when some aggressive prisoner started rioting because one of his needs were not fufilled, and after that he started a fight, and the perpetrators were locked in their cells or solitary confinement. Until this point things are the way they should, but after that, because they were locked up all the time, they could not fufill any of their needs from that on, they could not eat nor shower. So it became a feedback loop, these guys could never fill their needs, because as soon as they were out of the lockup they were so much frustrated because of hunger etc., that they immediately started rioting. And then back to lockup, and no food again. So at this point these prisoners were "unrepairable". No way to get them back to normal prison cycle.
Shouldnt be at least some way to feed them in lockup. Like a food cart or so?

as part of this update, being locked up raises the prisoners 'boiling point'. so when they are released they are less likely to cause trouble are more likely to fulfil that particular need. this should hopefully fix the cycle created by mis-behaving prisoners.
although i do agree, it would be good for guards to deliver food to prisoners in solitary or lockdown during meal times as this is what happens in normal prisons.

Hey I dont know if you missed the part where it says it but when a prisoner goes in to solitary now their anger meter goes down so I think they might have time to fulfill needs afterward. However food carts would be cool and hey if the two prisoners have a beef with each other maybe there would be poisonings and message passing. A big thing in prison is flying kites to pass messages. It would be a cool mechanic if the guards catch the kites you could be warned of some kind of event thats going to happen. Like a stabbing or something. Or a visitor bringing in drugs. Or a great many things could come of that.
anyway have a nice day

Was about to suggest the same in a new thread, but searching led me here. I also support additional functionality for the planning tool. I just drew out an entire prison with the planning tool today and had numerous situations where I wanted to shift a large amount of planning traces a few tiles. It would be very helpful, as you suggest, to select portions (small, large, and perhaps all) of the planning traces and move/copy them.

Just like to add something here, I´d dearly love the ability to "label" rooms in the planning mode, drag a little sign from the roomselection or just the ability to actually enter my own designation for it. At the moment I´m planning stuff out and since I have the memory of a dead fricking seagull sometimes, or have had a few too many beers and I´m trying to create the ultimate drunk prison this would really come in handy.
I'd definitely love to see these kind of options for the Planning button! Move, Rotate, Copy/Paste, Etc FTW.
Yeah pakt, definitely should be icons for all those features... The Planning button is empty and would love some icons to fill its empty stomach hehe xD
Oh yeah Mannol, I'd like the option to be able to designate labels in planning mode. That's certainly an integral part of planning! =)

I really hope the devs will look at this. I have made several smaller prisons, up to around a 150 prisoners. But as I try designing larger prisons and now, especially with lakes, I'm getting frustrated during the planning. It would be so nice to move a cell block or rotate it to fit into a given area. So I have not been playing the game. I want to enjoy playing the game not spend all my time planning and replanning. I think the design/layout is a very important part of the whole game.

I also hope the developers take a look at this.
It takes me a couple of hours to lay out a huge new prison in the planning phase before I actually start to build anything.
I cannot count how many times I've had to move my plans just slightly down one meter, but that forces me to redraw the entire thing.
And creating carbon copies of the same cell block or other facility is time consuming and dull.
Currently the clone tool only works for actual physical objects placed in the game world. Expanding upon this tool to include simple editing options for planning would save hours of dull gameplay, and quicken the steps between planning a prison, and actually getting to the fun part of managing it.
This would also open up the possibility of saving blueprints for a repeatedly used cellblock design between different prisons, etc.
If there were one feature I'd want implemented in the next release, it'd be this.

I have to say, I've been in this boat before lmao it does suck to get screwed by that one lousy meter >< Doesn't seem like it would be very hard to move even a whole screen of planning lines.

+1, Including this:
These changes would make the planning phase faster and so much more enjoyable.
