Blue Virii

Postby simonk » Sun Oct 31, 2004 3:42 pm

I have not read anywhere that there is supposed to be Blue Virii. I have come accross this bug twice (If it is a bug...its not actually a bad shade of blue)

Anyone else discovered this?

I've also noticed this, though I didn't think to mention it as a bug, as I don't see them as blue... It just looks like a rather faded virus sprite. It seems to me the sprite intensity is intentionally variable, but I could be wrong. *shrugs*

Step Spritely

Postby simonk » Sun Oct 31, 2004 3:55 pm

It only seems to happen when there are a few of them left in a group. I need to test further but I think it happens after fallout from a grenade explosion. Perhaps it is the outcome from a dodgy sprite collision?

I have looked in every group I come accross but It only seems to happen to isolated virii. Changing the camera angle makes no difference, however it did change back to red after another group was spawned.

Thats why I thought it might be a bug.

I've seen a variance in the intensity of them as well. Might be intended. I don't see that as blue either, just faded red.

Sometimes is seems like the color fades, leaving it blue/blackish, other times the arrow-shapes fade with it, leaving only a glow. With the latter, it can be very hard to see them sometimes.

I assumed this was a new element I didn't yet understand / wasn't yet introduced to.

Or it could be that this was posted 4+ months ago, and the game was still in beta phase then... so why bother bringing it back up?

Or it could be that it still happens in the final version. (Which it does.)

That doesn't matter. IV is already aware of it.
Generally the Windows Issues forums isn't for chitter chatter - it is here simply for utilitarian reports of bugs that are in the game.

So what exactly is the problem? Who cares if it's not blue, be happy you can see them in the first place. I haven't seen any blue virii and i still finished the demo.

Just a post to mention that I've also experienced this, in the Escort level, with quite a number of virii present.

I`ve had white viri, which when shot turn blue, took 4 or 5 hits to kill it, got progressively faded.
