I've lost games before 'cos of this (well, rather because I wasn't paying proper attention), managed to get a screenshot this time.
(In the screenshot, I originally started to the left, it takes me via red's starting location)

(Click for full size)I know that. The reason games were lost was because I was paying less attention to that spawn point, as I was battling for the other. Dragging the statue for a bit in the wrong direction until you intervene is not the best of functions...Pinky wrote:Dutifully pointed out the blindingly obvious

If it's still unsatisfactory, Ctrl-Click (or was it Alt-click?) changes pathfinding to the shortest direct route.

You don't even have to Ctrl-click, once selected, the pathfinding goes the right way.
xander wrote:Introversion has asked people to report instances where the pathfinding utterly fails, along with screenshot demonstrating that failure. We are all pretty much well aware of how to send units in straight lines, or otherwise manually control a statue. The point of threads like this is to make IV aware of specific problems on specific maps.

I just mentioned that it's an annoying enough bug that, unless though art as omniscient as you would like us to be Pinky, it can be a real pain in the arse if your MWs take the statue in the wrong direction. To the extent that, on occasions, allowing myself to be distracted (thinking my MWs would take the statue the easiest route), the bug has cost me the game. Regardless of games lost, it's AI behaviour that's clearly gone wrong.
And did you even look at the shot? Do you really think I reach that position where I could take the time over getting a good shot even though I had no idea how to control MWs with a statue, and had clearly been letting them take it via the opponent's capture point each time?
But, yes, apologies for the big ol' whinge.

It might not be playing poorly as much as was distracted from that area right at that moment.
It can be difficult to be at all places at once when micromanaging your MW's. And quite often we all try tactics in hopes we catch them distracted right at that precise moment.
Distracted from an area by looking elsewhere for a moment, doesn't immediately imply poor playing.
But we know, you play perfectly and never look away from any spot on a map ever.

I never said I was omniscient. I play poorly in this respect all the time.
You seem to assume that because I call it poor playing, I never make the mistake myself. This is not the case, and I often get hammered in one area while concentrating on another. I look at the situation objectivley, not subjectivley. If you can't recognise yourself playing poorly then you can't really get any better, becuase you can't see any room for improvement.
Also, things which you have no control over often cost you the game (you being a non-defined person), whether this be bugs or crates or having your parents make you go feed the dog. I'm not disputing the bug, I'm disputing the way people are treating it. Since Cooper apologised, this is more directed at xander and TomCat.
And as for the camera postitioning, people can be incredibly stupid occassionally.
Pinky wrote:True, it's just that it read like one big whinge which ignored the fact that he was playing poorly. I apologise, and may my oppponent place three ants nests next to my spawn next game.
