Connection problems

I have connection problems, and yes I saw Chris advise. Problem is I don't now much about computers so I don't know what a router is can anyone please explain me step by step what I have to do to get it fixed this way:

It's likely you have a restrictive NAT router, which basically means your router doesn't play well with our game. This will affect your ability to join games (it will only work if the host is behind a very permissive type of router) and you probably won't be able to get anyone to join your own hosted games.

The good news is you can fix it one of two ways. You can put your computer into a DMZ (usually by fiddling with the settings on your router) - which means you'll be directly connected to the Internet. Or our preferred way - setting up Port Forwarding. Again you do this by logging in to your router usually. You need to forward ports 4000 and 4001 UDP to your game computer.

You should also disable Firewalls and Virus Checkers, and indeed any internet applications that might be interfering - ICQ, Skype, Bittorret, SugarSync etc. They have all been known to interfere.

A router is a small box connecting your local network with the internet. You need to find it (by following the cables from your phone jack, for example) and find out brand and model. Then you post that here, we'll move from there on.

I have a Thomson speedtouch ST780 WL.

I have located my IP adress and the IP adress of the router, so please help me, because I don't know what to do next.

why ouch? is it impossible with this router? I have typed the IP-adress in my internet browser and found my personal router page.

Sorry I deleted my post...I said ouch because this sounds like a model of router some other folk have had some problems with.

In the UK many people use a BT Home Hub which is based on your brand of router...some believe there is a fix but for me the only fix was a new router.

When MW was released I could hardly connect to any games...I switched router and could connect to almost every game.

You may need a different router, though you might also want to try some of the fixes suggested first...I'm sure someone will come along and point you to these fixes.

Its says UDP or TCP then ..... to ..... then convert too ...... UDP or TCP then ..........
