Cooking Class!
So I don my hauberk and join a server for battle only to find an endless discussion of ... cooking! First it's souffles, then soups. On and on it goes, and endless stream of whisking, boiling, corn, etc., and german translations thereof. I plead for battle, but the chefs unite and continue on. Argh. I leave this server. But I forget to say that the most overlooked ingredient in great soups is, imo, barley. Happy cooking!

Not sure about this one either, except that since sauerkraut (which I enjoy) is made of cabbage, it reminds me of the cole slaw I had in germany made with red cabbage. It was the very best I have ever tasted. Only problem: it turned my urine red.* That was a bit unsettling at first. Quite delicious, however.LadySnowhitepink wrote:and so Sauerkraut
Enough of this, back to battle!
* Curiously, I have since learned that whether one's urine turns red from eating red cabbage is a genetic thing. Kind of like curling your tongue. Odd.

"Pliny noted barley was a special food of gladiators known as hordearii 'barley-eaters'." ... Barley contains all eight essential amino acids. (WikiP)
Try it. You will like it. Generally a good addition to any beef-based soup (not so much stews), and one of two "secret" ingredients in my award-winning vegetable soup (the other is turnips). Enjoy.
