Units shooting beyond range, anyone?

Postby rus|Mike » Sun Oct 26, 2008 7:26 pm

I've recently seen quite some times units shooting (and successfully) beyond their range

This case for example:

The bb from this screenshot actually died after this shot. And the shot has nowhere to come from rather than from that highlighted bomber. The rec will be availiable soon.
I can dig up more screenshots if it's required.

No, MOR, you linked to absolutely another problem :) Yours is a well-known bug, connected with Bearing Strait.

What's strange is that it's a very noticable bug but I saw it only in the last days which probably means it apeared only recently :? :?

Ah, i had this bug in mind, good to know its known, so i dont have to bite my lips any longer.

With all these exploitable bugs and no patch on the way, i think its best to keep quiet.

strange indeed, if you find a way to reproduce it, you can try to set back your computers date and see if you can still reproduce it.

I'm not sure, but it kinda looks like the bomber was in range, when it first came out of the base, and then both units moved. It's still weird, tho.

Don't the shots extend their range when they curve sharply, as well? It might have something to do with that. I dunno.

Hm... trace doesn't look like it. Anyway, I'll study the recording tomorrow.

I saw this before I left, which was over two weeks ago (the last time I played Defcon) and noticed over several games. Just never got around to posting about it.

I've managed to reproduce this once. But it only seemed to work if I had another bomber close to the target and AA fire coming from my silos.
