How is this done?

Postby - Tobias - » Tue Oct 14, 2008 8:05 pm

In a recent 1v1 match I observed what I consider to be a very strange phenomenon; namely, the SIMULTANEOUS launching of 10-12 carrier fiighters exactly at Defcon 3.

The recording of the game is here: http://dedcon.homelinux.net/serverlogs/Demo/2008/10/14/1630/recording_demo2_Tue_Oct_14_16_30_17_UTC_2008.zip

Please watch the recording and explain to me how, at exactly Defcon 3, all South American fighters launch a fighter at the very same time, each of which is targeted on a battleship.

Honestly, I am at a loss to explain how this happened. Is there an aspect of Defcon that I am unaware of that would cause/allow this? Typically, I can't launch or target a fighter before Defcon 3. If I try, I get the message "Not Before Defcon 3." Also, I believe that carrier fighters only spontaneously launch themselves after the carrier has been fired upon; which in this instance did not occur. Lastly, I find it incredulous that any human can target 10-12 fighters so quickly that they all launch within the single game frame after defcon 3. What could possibly explain how 10-12 carrier fighters could all launch simultaneously at Defcon 3. If there is some technique here that I am unaware of I'd really like to learn it!

BTW, the game was against player keyID 422762, playing as XTC, but having previously played as Fusa Territory/John the Greek. I won, primarily because I eliminated most of his carriers and got a lucky naval nuke in on his launching subs.

Nothing unusual about it.

Group carriers along with battleships in one fleet and they will automaticly attack the enemy at def 3.

Your silo placement sucks btw

"along with battleships"

As simple as that? Well I am dumbfounded. OK, since I never do this I've never seen it before. It might be worthwhile to throw a battleship in the mix just to achieve this capability. Thank you very much.

All carriers BEGIN defcon 3 in fighter launch mode ---> there is no wait to launch a fighter from a carrier at def 3. No special grouping or placement required.

Very useful for both scouting and immediate naval engagements.....

The point is that they launch automatically without giving any orders.
