Worldwide Release?

Postby Baelthazar » Tue Apr 18, 2006 7:06 pm

I'm not sure if this has been addressed, haven't seen anything in my browsing of the forums, but I was wondering:

Will Defcon have a simultaneous worldwide release, or will those of us in the United States have to wait a bit? I've been hearing rumors of digital download and shipping, etc. but I just wanted to clear this up. Pardon me for being over-anxious! :P

I can understand if the US is made to wait... as I figure US players will be better at the game. I mean, we HAVE had lots more real life practice at destroying the world...

If IV's past games are any indication, you will be able to preorder a week or two before release, and copies of the game will show up on in your mailbox a day or two before the actual release. IV will ship to anywhere in the world. I don't see any reason to change things now, so I assume that you will be able to get your copy as soon as it is released. I don't think that IV have the time, motivation, or interest to stagger releases, and I don't think it does them any good, anyway.

It'll be availiable worldwide online, possibly in shops in the UK, and maybe in the US (IV signed a deal with a distributer in the US for Darwinia)

Thanks all! I tell you what, this is one of the most insightful and relatively polite boards out there. Maybe the "retro" nature of IV's games only attracts mature posters

I'm not a patient man... so it looks like I'll be pre-ordering and hoping to get an early crack at digital downloading. I've found that US distribution of European games takes like 6 months for the publisher to actually duplicate it and get it to the stores.

From past experience (I missed the whole release of Darwinia and came upon much later), how long before release did they allow for pre-orders?

A couple of weeks. You should ask coolsi... he had the first pre-order.

Seconded... I just can't wait to shell out my hard earned US$$!

That must be the used car salesman mating call... "I want to spend money!"

Just like the university coed mating call is "I'm so wasted!"

I don't think they'll be taking preorders till the game has gone gold. There is no set release date anyway.

Unknown, though I suspect that the answer is yes. IV did very well through Steam, and, assuming that Valve wish to continue the relationship, I would imagine that IV would as well.
