The Chronicle of True History of Defcon - Book I The Birth of ROM
In the fire and brimstone of the digital servers there was a true evil that was never born yet always existed, it's name was unknown until later and that entity had a voice and it was called ROM. Read Only Memory and his obstinate never changing strategies swept the servers with darkness. Tyranny was imposed until a select band of disciples under the tutoring of their mentor decided to break free from chains that others allowed themselves to be binded with willing. Tournaments, ranking systems, the terrible era of rigidity had begun in the land of default. ROM blatantly manipulated the sacred ladder rules of honour through the evils of ungamesmanship, lies, petulence and vulgarity. The disciples of the true Arboc way created a splinter and fracturing in the community as the elan and spirit of competition was lost. ROM fought as hard as he could to maintain order and a shrouded legacy was formed, alas it was not enough, as he saw total power slip through his finger tips. The Disciples never to be fooled moved on to pastures new, as some names turned to history like grains on the beach as the tide took them out to sea... now this generation is led by ROM, unaware of the true facts of their ancestors, the stories of random and the ocean, ROM has created an arid desert where life and vitality once ruled. This transformation was complete and the evil that was ROM's genesis, shrouded in secrecy began to shine out in small slithers of light, ROM's total thirst for power and domination transformed him into the entity of pure digital darkness...he now goes by another name...to mislead his new pupils into his cause, twisting the world into his form like shifting clay on a digital electronic wheel. Thus ROM's dominion began, from time to time in their wanderings the Knights of Arboc return to challenge ROM and breath new life and fire into the tapestry of Defcon. For ROM will always be the darkness, it is forever, and only those of true courage fight to change the system and make it free again, to an age without the entity known as ROM.

Book II The Calling of ARBOC
For in the past ROM was alone and he needed a guidance and more importantly a friend, The Knights of ARBOC appeared as if by chance, through circumstances beyond their control and were firmly placed in the environment at one time. Soon scathing retorts shaped and shifted to a vague mutual respect, opposite polarities brought together to create something greater. The Laboratory of war was created where these minds met and under battlefield conditions these experiments were put into practice against the greatest foes of the Defcon landscape, soon these foes also grew to become not enemies but allies and the Knights grew in numbers until the day of the great betrayal of ROM, not even Lancelot or the Archangel himself could have placed such a plan into motion and a splinter emerged never to be sealed until this day. ROM wandered alone unable to understand or comprehend the extent of his treachery and rejection by the Knights and the spirit was diminished replaced by the dread and turgidity of the 1v1 and 2v2. The grains of sand passed and time diminished the land slowly, wounding it with every passing year, unable to remove the stagnation from the environment the poison was painful and widespread. Until a new generation emerged organically with the hope of the future unbridled by the past and to see through the age of ROM without constraints and the purity of the ARBOC way to a blending of the best of both worlds and a new horizon Soon perhaps a new rebirth will occur to shine greater light on the darkness of Defconland and return it to it's former greatness where multiple Champions logged on to do battle every hour...

So the friendship and comradeship of ROM was thus altered, as he developed a new name be it COW or another dimensional alias, BOR. Now he goes by neither to mask his true self, here he may be known as MOR, yet there are still other Knights, that know his true face, the real and accurate history of Defcon, altered by perceptions and reputations formed in futures past and unwritten. The Great Betrayal marked the true end of the golden age of Defconland as the Knights fractured and without trust went there own way. Only a few Champions remained and the MOR consumed and grew in ego and size. the dark psychology hidden with only a few knowing the truth of MOR's essence, what was honestly at his core. Worshiped by nine feline cat underlings of subservince, being able to shift multiple personalities from ROM (Read Only Memory Play Style the original default) with utter rigidity and inability to adapt to new scenarios to BOR (Boredom Play Style) grinding his opponent down by running in real time to COW (Cowardly Play Style), refusing to fight, and using all tactics and half truths then lies to keep his ranking intact. Finally to MOR an agglutination of all three styles feasting and harvesting the darkest elements of each to produce the entity that will forever be MOR. Only now the truth has been seen to be published lost in the annals of the server to be uncovered for the good of Defconland and it's future. Perhaps something new can be forged from the divide and schism that broke the community, creating the darkness, molding the age of MOR and the genesis of 1v1 in it's perpetuity to absolutism. What now for the future, to be guided by the entity of MOR tinged with evil, yet even within MOR there is regret, a sense of obligation and disgust within, some speculate that The Great Betrayal did what no other event could, it changed MOR and brought an ounce of guilt and true shame to MOR thus creating a digital soul.

Book IV The True Face
Alas the Knights of ARBOC gave MOR/COW/BOR/ROM his final chance to prove themselves feeling there was a digital soul hidden away within the darkness, forgiving them for their multitude of electronic sins. They congregated one last time for a seasonal engagement. The darkness that lurks within the entity could not be contained, even at this festive time of year, the ego/superego and id of the creature combined to form a gigantic mass of obvious duplicity, lies and shame. It could be said that the Knights felt pity for the creature, yet this three lettered lurker of hell has in fact been elevated to the circuits of purgatory forever to be alone without the consciousness or understanding of the faults that nestle within them. This route fallacy is a vice unknown, almost a forever repeating circle of self hate and loathing that cannot be broken like Sisyphus doomed to labour forever they are cursed to walk the servers alone and in darkness without dignity. As a result of this solipsism and anti-decency the Knights merely looked on with disgust as elements never change even at Christmas, a tragic tale of greed, decadence, consumption and wanting that cannot be quenched. Like Vathek consumed to hell to be forever tortured with the full force of the fires burning at his heart, this soul was vanquished, their one chance for redemption and atonement for this creature lost, as in the parables, this story is a warning and a lesson, to all future players and individuals that see this loathsome "Defcon Gollum", beware and be careful, it only wishes to consume, betray, lie and deceive. It cannot be changed or reasoned with, it has no sense of shame or guilt or virtue. In the end all that will remain will be the recordings for when all is past and changed the servers altered and time moved on, the evil will remain of the greed of MOR. Friendless and alone, a warning to each and everyone one of us. To be known from this day forth as GOL. Greed.Over.Life. A sad ending, yet a seemingly fitting and apt one.

I remember when MOR asked me to not finish a 2vs2 that he was losing. He supplicated me and cumi to not finish it..hahahaha.
I like this arguable history about the best and dirtiest player of defcon. I can concede some elements.
