Help with Spam

Postby John » Sun Dec 13, 2015 6:36 pm

Hi guys,

While we investigate what we can do to improve the boards resistence to spam bots, we need some volunteers to help clear out any spam that does make it through.

Please can you reply to this thread with your username if you're up for helping out.

Cheers

John

Hi John,
I'm lurking and posting here plenty and won't mind removing spam if and when I see it !
-I can be trusted not to abuse any elevated role, I think.. 8)

Just hoping it doesn't involve another account/login !

So let me know what/where/how..
See ya!

let me understand: you have raised more than 10 millions with the last game and you ask for free volunteering?

The large majority of forums, including game forums, typically have volunteer moderators. It's pretty much how it's always been done. Even Valve (you know, the guys with all the money) have volunteer moderators on their forums, namely the Dota 2 Development forum. How would you even pay moderators, anyway? Would they have to sit staring at the forums for eight hours a day? And how would you determine they did an adequate job for the day? Volunteer moderating also comes with the benefit that the moderators are usually members of the community and are (hopefully) liked/respected/tolerated by most or have otherwise been notably helpful in the past.

OT: I realize this thread is a bit old, but seeing as there is still only one moderator for the board, I would also like to offer to help in the future.
