Updates (alpha 29)

Postby geferon38 » Sun Jan 25, 2015 5:47 pm

Let just talk about updates.
The newest update (alpha 28) was released on 18 Dec 2014, the before update, was 28 Nov 2014, and now were on 25 Jan 2015, and the new update (in this case alpha 29) hasn't even been announced.
What do you think about this? And why do you think there's a delay like this in the alpha 29? Maybe they're bringing a big update, or did the development team just die (kidding)?
Please, post what do you think about this

You should just stay put and keep waiting - updates usually come out at the end of the month. It's not January being late, December was just early (probably due to holidays). ;)

I think that IV have said that they will try to release an update every month, but they have never promised to strictly adhere to such a schedule. I also think that there are six more days in January, so even if IV had made such a promise, they have almost another week to release an update. Finally, I think that you need to relax.

Yeah, they've still got around a week. Even if we don't get an update, I don't think we need to get the pitchforks out... maybe just give them a gentle prod.

Also, I cannot recall an update ever being anounced in advance - it just pops up - and just happens to be at the end of every month.

I think we are all eager, but to me that is part of the fun. (Plus the enjoyment of knowing that a developer actually has me excited for an update)

The updates are always like a pleasent surprises that pop up and tells me. No, you aren't getting actual work done this weekend. Instead you are going to watch a youtube video and have your gf remind you to eat while teasingly calling me Warden.

Yeah. We don't even typically get to hear what's in the works for the next update until it's released.

And holy hell if this isn't a demanding enough community for them to cater to without being hounded about fictionl deadlines by us as well.

The release date of Alpha 28 was just a bit earlier than normal because of Christmas. I'll probably be released at the end of this week

For reference:

Alpha 17 was released 31 Jan 14.

Alpha 13, 14, and 15 were 29 Aug, 02 Oct, and 29 Nov 13, respectively - Not counting hotfixes, that's 3 releases in 4 months, there was good reasoning for this but the overall point is the same: every month is a good guideline but isn't something that is strictly adhered to.

TL;DR: Listen to xander.

I do hope it drops soon, I'm hard core snowed in so a little prison architect might help pass the time.

I mean I'm also working from home, so I could get some work done... but that is less appealing.
