Bug Bash: Help us verify bugs

Postby John » Thu Jun 05, 2014 3:49 pm

The Bug Bash has begun and we've already fixed a few bugs. This video shows how to use the Mantis change log to see which bugs we've resolved, how to get the test build from Steam and what to write in the bug report to indicate whether the bug is successfully fixed.

Since Bugbash 2 is coming, this topic will get stuck to the top again to help new users with how to opt-in to the updates on Steam, and with Mantis.

Be sure to look at John's video in the first post!

Care to refresh the beta build on Steam to A25 level as a start point please? That way people can get ready and turn on the beta mode in preparation for BB2.

Thanks

At the current rate, I would say alpha 26 at the end of the month will be the bugbash 2, to polish up the game a little for christmas.

BugBash 2 is currently under way. They may not have released a testing version yet for us to tear apart, but it is happening right now.

Will we get any interim builds before the next monthly one as we did with BB1? BB1 had 10 interims during the month (up to 1J), 11 days into October and we've have 0 so far with BB2. If/when they decide to issue an interim, will we get told? Or will we have to keep changing the build over to Beta in Steam to check for ourselves, before reverting back to release again when we find it's still on BB1J, as I've been doing since the announcement of BB2?

If/when there is a BB2 test build released, it will most likely be named BugBash-2... so you can stop switching between the two.

That would be good, though if anybody with the power to do so is reading this, can you remove the BB1J build from the Betas tab on Steam altogether then please? Can't see as it serves any purpose whatsoever, and most people when they see a beta version available expect it to be later than the current release, which clearly it is not.

I've just put up our first bugbash build on the 'bugbash' channel in Steam. The version number is bugbash-2 and (hopefully!) fixes the following:

0002563: [AI & Behaviour] Prisoner released same time as family goes to meet him (Icepick) - resolved.
- 0002611: [Graphics] An Invisible Prisoner (Icepick) - resolved.
- 0002655: [Save & Load] Incident free timer resets on load (lim_ak) - resolved.
- 0005164: [Control & User Interface] Introduction Objectives (lim_ak) - resolved.
- 0001358: [AI & Behaviour] Dead inmate's family still come for visitation (Icepick) - resolved.
- 0005896: [Save & Load] Cannot save game. So I cannot load it neither. (John) - resolved.
- 0004784: [Control & User Interface] Policy Tab - Setting punishments to "None" resets after save & load (lim_ak) - resolved.
- 0004720: [AI & Behaviour] Teacher wanders into adjacent rooms while teaching (Icepick) - resolved.
- 0006069: [Gameplay] Supermax security prisoners are downgraded back to Max security after a murder (lim_ak) - resolved.
- 0006021: [Control & User Interface] too many informants cover the screen (Icepick) - resolved.
- 0006020: [Gameplay] Bankruptcy when playing with unlimited funds (lim_ak) - resolved.
- 0001061: [Save & Load] Prisoner's sleep state not saved (Icepick) - resolved.
- 0000027: [AI & Behaviour] Garbage is unloaded at Deliveries (elDiablo) - resolved.
- 0005611: [Control & User Interface] Clone toolbar not visible (Icepick) - resolved.

There's also been some work on the multiple kitchens / canteen issue, as well as some performance improvements to the utlities mode. More work coming on both of those.

I've verified everything I could but we need some debug tools to fully test everything
