[Suggestion] Hidden Research

Postby Suthek » Mon Sep 08, 2014 6:13 pm

As it is now, if a player or the devs create a scenario/campaign with additional custom data (objects, research, w/e), all the researches are visible from point one. Depending on the type of campaign, the name of such research itself could already spoil any plot twists that the author might have had in mind.
(Imagine someone making a e.g. campaign/scenario where an event a few weeks into the prison building process triggers (ir)regular flooding of the surrounding land and prison, so you get some research into flood protection, like flood gates etc.. But anyone playing it will see the research right away, spoiling the surprise of events to come.)

So what I'd like to suggest is the ability for scenarios/campaigns to create research objects on the spot; or maybe just reveal fully hidden research.

What this means is that you have a research that doesn't appear initially on the Bureaucracy tab, neither do objects/rooms/etc. that are linked to that research.
Said research (and all its corresponding items) is added eventually when certain conditions are met. That way players and devs will be able to create scenarios/campaigns that hold a certain amount of surprise.

Does this mean you are making a campaign about floodings?

Who knows? But there are certainly other ideas as well.
