Call me crazy, call me racist or call me maybe but you know I'm right. The economy thrives on import and export, in order to maximize profit each person specializes in one type, if we would do everything on our own it wouldn't be as effecient as it is right now.
And I in fact am not racist, building up an economy is the best we could do for them, what good is sending money going to be if the corrupt government is going to steal half and the rest is going to be spend bags of rice they can't even cook. Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day, teach a man how to fish and he will eat forever.

So, are you saying 'teach a starving African how to work in a factory, and they'll work in a factory forever' ?

Please don't put words in my mouth. I do not believe that you are right, and pretending that I do does not serve your case.

Sure things, boss. Because we all know that unbridled capitalism is the best possible system in the world, and there is no higher calling than maximizing profits.

knoest26 wrote:And I in fact am not racist, building up an economy is the best we could do for them...

I suggest that you read "The White Man's Burden" by Kipling, then look at some of the commentary surrounding that work. Then reflect for a moment. You are stating that it is the job of modern industrial nations to save those poor, starving, brown people from themselves. I had rather thought that this kind of racist, imperialistic nonsense had been discredited 100 years ago, but I guess it never really goes out of fashion.

knoest26 wrote:Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day, teach a man how to fish and he will eat forever.

The essence of that saying is that it is better to teach people how to take care of themselves than it is to simply give them things. Leaving aside the above point that it is not the job of industrialized nations to drag the rest of the world into the 21st century, willing or not, I don't see how building factories and exploiting cheap labor is "teaching a man to fish." It sounds more like the way that early European settlers traded baubles to the American Indians in exchange for vast swaths of land, or the way that the British exploited the Chinese in the 19th century, ultimately leading to the Boxer Rebellion.

No need to agree with me. I live according to my believes, you live according to yours and as long as we can all die happily theres no need to heavily debate about it.

And to answer paktsardines his question, the factory would be producing food. They would produce food for themselves and slowly learn more about the process and then optimize it so they will be producing more then they eat, allowing them to export food and import eg. clothes to wear or lumber to built houses with

Right now the only way to 'fix' it is to try and make your operating system run in English, that will probably change the name on the location.

Nothing to do with the bug, but damn, english gaming mandatory? I always thought the dutch education system is one of the better ones, im really doubting that now....

Just for starters, there is about 2 BILLION people in the world who speak native chinese (different languages but each one a lot more similar to each other than either one to english). Add on top another 1.5 BILLION who speak native indian languages (again, several different ones but closer related to each other than to english), maybe a BILLION or so who speak native spanish/portuguese (or derivatives), another 500 million to 1 BILLION with russian languages and you get quite a large number of the world who doesnt require english at all. In fact learning english in (i.e.) india is providing quite a worse economic outlook than learning proper mandarin due to the dwindling impact of western economys.

If anything, germans(which i am), dutch and any other westerner should be forced to learn chinese/indian/spanish/russian languages considering that 90% of our goods are manufactured in those countries. They are the majority of the planet and will sooner or later realize an ageing europe and a hopelessly crashed US arent really necessary for them and then your fucked with english.

Sorry for the offtopic, but damn.....

PS: I agree that knoest is a damn racist, if ive ever seen one. Whats worse, hes not even realizing it. On the other hand it confirms my clique of IB students.

Well the problem is with non ASCII character so if you can manage to make it so that they are non such character in the path of the save folder or in the save file name that would be good. But that might not be easy If your username has non-latin character.

If you can't change your username for your Windows profile you may have to create a new Windows account with letters and numbers using the English alphabet. Then on that account you can play Prison Architect with no issues.

Alternatively, you can wait until language support is implemented.

I'm not sure but I guess stuff like 'programfiles' is also in a different style.

It's not about how many people speak what language as their native one, look up the numbers for people that speak English as a secondary language and you'll be amazed. Plus your forgetting that spanish is also in the same letterstyle as English so their shouldn't be any saving problems there.
And eventhough a lot of goods do indeed come from those countries, you are wrongfully asuming that in all those factories a non-english language is spoken. Eventhough things aren't very bright there now you can see a more wealthy class form in China with a less corrupt government, because of industrialization. It's gradually allowing them to become more wealthy and demanding like western people untill manufacters decide that Asia becomes to expensive and starts to set up their factories in Africa, making that the new global producer of your shoes.
And finally, in order for me to be racist I would need to discriminate groups of people based on their race. I don't, I'm reflecting my opinion on the importance of English in the world and I therefor find it very normal if only English characters are supported. I'm willing to, as a member of the rich class, to support the poor class but not to support religion or war. If people would be willing to learn from the past instead of reject certain groups because of it (like a lot of black people now hate white people because of slavery eventhough those white people never participated in it and those black people never suffered from it) we would have already be having flying cars, If those damn knights and kings in the fifth century would have continued the usage of the Roman bathhouses and sewer system instead of follow a religion that cause technology to stall for 1000 years the world would have been a smarter a lot earlier. Everything needs to come from both ways, you can't be in love with a person if he/she doesn't love you and I won't wisely spend money on third world countries if they aren't going to spend it wisely.

And for all those people who will start to complain about how a 17 year old pretends to know how the world works, you might want to consider individual experiences before judging

God, the arrogance leaking from this sentence alone....

I wont talk politics or economics with you, i believe that's pointless but think about this:

This is a gaming forum. People come here with an intent to discuss Prison Architect, not politics. Yet several people from several different countries who don't know each other and have no relationship whatsoever with each other, come to the same conclusion from the stuff you write. They think you are a racist.

Think about this real hard.

Besides whatever stuff you believe, whether your 17 or 77, whether your a cat or a fucking alien.Either you want to change HOW you explain yourself, or better yet, question WHAT the fuck your saying.

PS: You wanna talk about corruption? How about the EU who spent 3+ Trillion tax money on banks thanks to massive corruption and infiltration, compared to that Asia and Africa don't even know how to spell corruption....
