[Mod] Miri's Festive Mod v1.1 Alpha 16 - Updated

Postby MiriW » Thu Dec 05, 2013 4:10 pm

I succeeded in creating my very first mod (which thankfully required no coding) and thought I'd share it:

This mod is a standalone Christmas mod, however it's part of the "Seasons" Series which is available on steam.

Replaces some of the skins in your prison with festive ones. Nothing fancy, just something to get you(and your prisoners) in the spirit :)

Version 1.1 - Updated to alpha 16. This will be the last update this year, as the season is almost finished... but I figured I'd at least make it available the alpha it was mentioned in the video O.o ... I mean... whoa...?! I didn't see that coming! Was in the middle of doing dishes when it came on and when I realized, I just stood there, half through a plate, dripping suds and old gravy all over my socks... Anyways, it works with 16 now, although isn't too pretty since I just pasted the old stuff on top of the new files. It'll be on hold til next November or so, and in the meantime, I totally need a new idea for a mod... anyone?

Old notes:
Version 0.3 - Updated 08/12/13 Added doublesided windows with snow
Version 0.2 - Updated 05/12/13 Added Santa-Warden, Elf-Guards and Present Processing Workshop
Version 0.4 - Updated 09/12/13 Removed rogue snow layer from tileset which caused a graphical glitch
Version 1.0 - *Fixed a problem with the location of the christmas hats. *Changed guard batons into Candy Canes *Changed Foods to Christmassy ones. Cabbage to Ham, Potatoes to Christmas Puddings, Bacon to Candy Cane(Although, I am, generally, not in favour of removing bacon from anything.) and eggs to chocolate chip cookies. Also, the chefs seem to be on some new, fancy designer drug, because cooking ham and pudding in a pot and candy canes on a pan, is a bit ... odd. *Changed the fancy tiles to be red, green and gold *Added menorahs several places *Added wreaths to doors *Added a Christmas tree. Whether it's reasonable that execution rooms now require a Christmas tree is something I can't quite relate to, but as I can't find a way to add a new object, I had to steal the electric chair for it.

Would love comments and suggestions. Cheers! :)

Nice, only thing missing is a warden dressed up as santa and guards dressed up as elves :D
EDIT: Better yet, make the prisoners dress up as elves and turn the license plates into presents.

I thought about the license plates turning into something else, but that'd require some form of code to change the name... Well, I guess I'm on a mission! Give me a few hours to attempt it, get frustrated, whine and eventually get in touch with an old friend who might know how to do it, but hey, presents coming up in next version.

Updated to 0.2, now with santa-warden, elf-guards and present processing workshop. Any more suggestions? :D

Very nice indeed! I was in the beginnings of working on my own winter themed mod, but it looks like I'll have to create something new!

As a suggestion, can you have the windows appear on both sides of vertical walls, and maybe add snow in between their bars?

Added windows that appear on both sides of the wall, with snow. Thanks to Cooper42 for the windows which I unashamedly stole and added snow to.
The only issue is that snow now also appears on the in-door facing side of the windows as they only have 2 orientations.

Added a few to the top post. There's really not much to the mod - it's mostly just little red hats and snow :)

Nice!! :D

The only thing I can think of is maybe holiday themed foods (ham, fruit cake, cookies, etc.) or instead of stealing contraband, they steal toys and candy, or something. These might require a lot of thought and some coding, however, since there's so much contraband now. I think it'll be funny seeing the guards (sorry, "elves") using candy canes instead of batons :P
