Different Looks

Postby F.A.H.E.S. » Fri Nov 22, 2013 12:47 am

Hi all,

I'm new here and want to ask you, how can I make my DEFCON look like this?

Are these screenshots from visual customizations or do we see "real" mods here? And if we see mods here, how are they called and were can I get them? If not, how do I customize my DEFCON map like this?

pS: Excuse my wrong english!

Hello

I truly dont remember how I used to edit color schemes in game but however I have edited the ship bmp and land based look using mods people have created it looks like this :).

If you want instructions on how to do this just ask :)

Nice mod coke...in fact could you give link or whatever to this graphic mod or whatever?

But to answer FAHES question, there is a Style Editor in the 'Tools' section of the main menu, I have set mine to red so in case i am facing anybody with blue color, it will at least be kind to my eyes for a while.
You can fiddle around with the color settings if you wish for a more personal feel, but i would just select the few selections of color layouts located in the load area of the style editor just to save time.

np dude...however blue in my opinion still looks horrible with any color background, and ive tried using my glasses, to no avail, so basically the style editor will give your eyes less grief when playing blue, but only for a while for me

Well I will explain what i did.

1 download and install winzip

2 look for mods like ace mod modern warfare mod and download them

3 open the downloaded mod with winzio find graphix open that folder the named bmp are on there

4 open defcon up through c/program files/ defcon find the Main file open it with winzip with a differrent window find graphix backup the whole graphix folder for defcon first then drop and drag the bmp files fron the mods graphix file to the defcon files :) done !

OK, style editor works. It's a bit tricky to get the color you want by RGB code but it works^^

@ nuclear cocain:
The way you discribe wont work for me. I forgot to say that I'm playing via Steam.

I have only the main folder.
C:\Programme\Steam\SteamApps\common\Defcon\
and there are no pictures or any other graphic data and no more folders.

The complete content is:
authkey
blackbox.txt
changes.txt
debug.txt
defcon.exe
game-history.txt
main.dat
preferences.txt
sounds.dat
steam_api.dll
and sevral synclog 20XX-XX-XX XXXXXXXX XXX.txt

Any ideas how I can modify my unit graphics?

the main dat file can be opened here

C:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\common\Defcon

then double click the main at file and choose browse then winrar to open it. after opened find data open it then find graphix open that and replace what bmp files you want changed using mod or mods bmp files you downloaded. I use some from ace mod and modern warfare mod

Pretty as it looks, its almost as bad as blue background with blue, especially with diplo games. Why i stick to red, as it doesnt blend as badly with red units.

With the style editor i have made everything black, except the coastlines wich are white now.

I think its the best way to see eversthing. Also the greyed units because i have disabled the boarders and the coastlines are bright white.

But theres a problem: On the last few minutes of the game the coastlines are vanishing and all i see are the cities and units... I dont know why this happens.
