Gameplay bug: Prisoners sentences too short
At least 5 of my prisoners are released daily. Some of them come in and leave the same day. I have to leave my prison open to prisoners because in 2 days i will be making almost no money. I think that the sentences should be longer so that it takes at least several days for them to be released.

You need to change the title of this thread. Prisoner sentence length is NOT a bug. Prisoner sentences are created by name-in-game players dictating how long their "avatar" or alter-ego should be incarcerated for his heinous crime(s), and some that were obviously created by the devs to "flesh out" the game.
The frequency of their release is too quick. I think we all agree on that.
But the solution is mentioned above. Get in more maximum security prisoners (you can even preview and request prisoners with lengthier sentences). Be aware though. These are BAD boys.

Prisoner sentences are randomly assigned. Prisoner bios are created by Name in the Game players, but those bios have nothing to do with the crimes the prisoner has on their rap sheet.

At least not yet. I would be surprised if this will still be the case in the final game. It's just a huge load of work to go through every single bio users have sent in and code the prisoner accordingly. IV will probably do it once the sale of Name-in-game and Face-in-game tiers gets closed.

As I said over here, I think the prison sentences are fine the way they are. I'd just slow the rate that sentence time passes with respect to real-time. Not trying to recreate the sims here, but it would be nice if some prisoners stayed around long enough for you to remember them and follow their progress.

...Don't talk to ME about short sentences...
I had this too. A prisoner came into the prison and I noticed he was marked as 'RELEASED' already, even though he was wearing handcuffs. But there was a job to 'escort prisoner to cell', so a guard took him to his cell, the door closed and then immediately opened again and he proceeded to walk out of the prison... ?!
EDIT: Just noticed this happen again.

Somehow I think the developers are going to have a hard time figuring out proper sentences for 1000 "tim was arrested by teh cops for bein so crazy n awsum XD XD"

If it were me I'd give them the death penalty. Any prisoner with anything like that as their bio doesn't deserve to live.
Oh, I agree.
