New mode: N00b Mode

Postby Radiant Caligula » Wed Jun 20, 2007 9:05 pm

ok let's get real here. Who doesn't remember when you were a n00b? A delightfully fresh little twat who thought placing subs in mixed fleets was a great idea and push your silos right next to enemy border "for that extra good protection"?

Why don't we go back to basic? Let everyone behave like kids with new toys and battle it out with as n00bie setups as possible?

suggestion for mode:

all settings as you please, but you're only allowed to make mixed fleets with at least 2 subs in each. All in groups of 6. All silos must be placed on or as close to enemy border as possible. No grouping of silos; meaning you have to place silos at every border you have. If you're NA or SA you have to place at least 2 silos at the border and the rest at your coastlines. 1 silo MUST be placed over a major city, either the 3rd, 2nd or the biggest city...

Fleet nukes are PROHIBITED.

At the end of the game we can vote for "The Biggest n00B". The player who manages to portray excellence noobiery will get kudos.

CMON, LET'S GET n000BIE! :D :D :D

So I assume that be beam attack would also be forbidden, no?

And airbases near the borders too.

Boy, that would be so weird to play. But I'm in for a go.. :D

ok, I can make a rule that you have to place all your airports at the extreme N/E/S/W borders of your continent. That pretty much makes a beam attack impossible to get in the air, except from carriers... :P

Also, subs must be as close to shore as the formation they are in allows (touching shore if at all possible), and they may only surface withen three sub lengths from an airfield.

Sorry, I'll fix it. I was thinking of all the times I (back in the day) and others who I have seen have surfacrd thier subs right next to the coast, about ten feet from an airfield or silo.

That's why you locate the airfields first :( That's also why I've switched my tactic to lulling my opponent into switching to speed 4, and then launching from there. Even sixty seconds that you can gain can be decisive, especially if someone tries a fake launch etc :p

That's a key part of the matter that the n00bs do not do.

I got a suggestion!!

All fleets must move in unison and must move while stacked ontop each other so that one crashed fighter can kill three battleships.
(will not ruin the fun because naval nuking is prohibited :D )

Hahha, but THAT is the difference.
Any and every single defcon noob goes: "Defcon 1! I can launch from those silos now!!"

Easy way of implementing this:
Every player takes shifts to drop during Defcon 5 for a few moments then re-synch - allowing the CPU to place fleets and installations...
Whoever you vote for, the government wins.
