Hi there.
I'm not sure if this is a bug or a feature, but I do not seem to be able to fullfill some needs. Prisoners who are at a maximum at a random need, say hygiene, keep complaining about this. This is just fine, rescue is on the hand, next on the regime is an hour of showering for everyone. But the complaining guys just enter the shower room and go on complaining about wanting to go to the shower - and then usually hell brakes lose. Riot. Fighting. Soapdropping. Solitary.
I always end up with frightened prisoners stealing knifes to arm themselfes and the complainers complaining even more because they couldn't get to the shower while being in solitary after rioting because they wanted to have a shower. Illogic pricks.
It's annoying like hell.
Also there is one prisoner with a full bar of 'freedom' who uses every spare minute to go to the canteen, act suspicious, steal a knife and ends up being searched because of the metal detectors. He is stubborn like russian pavement, because the second he gets out of lockdown he just rushes to the canteen again ... Argh! Help!
Can't fullfill needs, prisoners prefer to riot

Just checking.
Some prisoners I've noticed get into a bad mood and stay there. As you mentioned they are too busy complaining to actually satisfy a need. My suggestion would be to throw them into solitary and lock the door and let them waste away to die.
The behavior AI will be tweaked as this is still Alpha and there are no penalites for throwing prisoners into holes and starving them to death. Consider it payback for all the trouble they caused
(to lock the door, after they're in solitary click on the door and selected the SomethingSomethingSomething Closed option (of the three, Closed, Normal, Open). Should have a red 'do not enter' sign on the door and now staff can't open the door to let him out when his sentence is done.

What I do is create a holding cell, have guards escort bad apples to the holding cell and then lock the door so no staff or guards can open them. If there are more than one bad apple sometimes they fight it out to the death, and sometimes they just make a bunch of noise. Either way they are no longer a problem.
One time I did the solitary thing. Let my guy sit in there for a looooong loooong time, released him finally and he never did the bad stuff again. He would run to the canteen all of the time and grab a knife like clockwork, every single day. He stopped. I like to think he found Jesus in his months in solitary.

Just a small update: The rioting guy is rotting in solitary, but the one with the fetish to steal knifes and get put into lockdown all the time seems to have reconsidered his stupidity while in forced solitary. Seems this is the only way to get rid of the "Freedom" need.
This noted I would really prefer a button under "Search Prisoner" to force solitary.

Looks like putting them into solitary is a good solution. For some reason guards have nearly stopped to put prisoners in here even if they beat guards with knife and so one - only lockdown for 20-30 mins. I got just 30 normal prisoners and 5 of them are always complaining and no one will sleep at nigh. I spent like 3.000$ a day to repair stuff and it's much more than I earn so I have to cheat money save to be able to play further.

Well, that complaining mechanics need a real lookover I guess. My prisoners now keep complaining about wanting to have a shower even right after showering. They are actually still standing in the shower naked, one + of "Hygiene" left. It's a little ridicoulus that they complain like thee-year-olds even if they got what they wanted.

Guard brutality may fix that. I guess prisoners in high-sec prison will likely to complain less while lying pool of their own blood...
Then they will complain about guard brutality and bleeding every where.
Woah, you should never need more than 10-15 guards for that amount of prisoners with any normal design, can easily be done with 4-5. Of course, you have to re-deploy 2-3 times per day.themadmoore wrote:I had issues with complaining at night etc, so I put cells doors in every cell (I had not needed to until A-9).
I am up to 115 prisoners - 53 guards.

That's a bug that appeared in alpha 9. The need to shower instantly goes away as showertime ends, so just a minor annoyance at the moment.
I haven't had problems with needs in a long time, all you need is a decent regime and layout. Usually have ~1 incident every 10 days.
Try a few different things, try to figure out the origin of the first few incidents (as once a few happen, they build on each other and it can be a bit hard to control).
In my experience of alpha 9, 9/10 problems come from the morning-shower. The need to shower is now quite insane, but all you need is enough guards deployed in your shower (if it wasn't for those crucial first 15mins of morning shower, you could get away with 75% fewer guards overall).
