How come when you directly connect the water from toilet to toilet it sometimes doesn't work. It worked for the 1st 5 toilets but not the other ones. Thnx

If large pipes are placed before you place a foundation then you'll have no problem besides placing small pipes to direct connect. I don't see how it would make sense to place large pipes after the foundation has been built though, it would make more sense from a design perspective to build a smaller pipe so as to reduce damage to the foundation of the building. And the architect tool that's been suggested by many people would be very useful for something like this, for me personally that's going to be my favorite feature as I'll spend hours building stuff in the blueprint tool with the pause button pressed.
Yes, that is a penguin with rabies. Deal with it.
The plan for future updates is to have large pipes be a potential escape route (prisoners dig from cells to the large water lines, which will give them easier passage out, instead of digging a tunnel all the way). At least this is was the idea Chris talked about at the Eurogamer Expo dev session.
So, having more large pipes: Less need for several water pumps, but more of a potential safety hazard.
Having more smaller pipes: Need to have more water pumps built around the prison, but overall that bit more secure for escape attempts.

I think they cant go past walls, but stay in them. look at the topic for the escape tunnels, they dig at the closest large pipe
