Some quick little questions

OK, first love the game last game that was prisonish was Prison Tycoon and that was ehh

Well I have two questions:

1 When I zone cells should I include the cell door or does it not do anything?
2 I am making some cells for good inmates but I don't want them placed there automatically so should I zone them as holding cells or what?

For strict completeness, yes you should include a cell door. The holding cell is really a receiving area for newly arriving prisoners. The general population lives in regular cells. Even "good" inmates still live in cells, not the "holding" cell. The only way to prevent a prisoner from being assigned to a cell would be to remove the cell designation from the room.

As far as I can tell, defining the door tile as a cell has no effects, other than janitors won't clean that tile. Personally, I don't include it.

As for good inmates, you can always manually assign them, as Guv said, keep some cells that aren't set as cell room types, and then when you want to move one, set it as a cell and manually transfer.

I also found out that zoning the door made inmates walk and open it and that is annoying

With the "good" cells I was just wondering really if zoning it as holding cell had any negative affects
