Challenge! How secure is your prison?

Postby Causeless » Sun Nov 04, 2012 3:26 am

Almost all of us have made a prison with no escapes, with all prisoners happy. We manage to get by, but only by giving the prisoners what they want, and thus they are happy and have no reason to riot. However, that's just a work-around; you are avoiding trouble, because we all know how little we could do if (or when) a riot starts.

So, here's the challenge: Firstly, make the most secure prison you can imagine. Once you are happy with it, you must send the entire prison into lockdown (or alternatively if you don't want the desaturated effect, you must change your regime to something that only takes place inside a cell, i.e "sleep", "nothing", or a mixture). Then, you see how long you can wait!

Rules:

*The end score = time from lockdown until first escape x end amount of prisoners.

*If a prisoner dies during the lockdown, he doesn't count towards the end score.

*Every cell must only have the bare essentials. This means a bed and a toilet, with no other objects (excluding CCTV) allowed inside. Holding cells are also allowed, but again you cannot have anything more than benches, toilets and beds in them. (I allow benches as they are needed for a holding cell, and also beds are used to fulfill the "comfort" requirement anyways).

*The amount of guards must be limited to = amount of prisoners / 2, and as soon as you start the lockdown you cannot hire any more. If you manage to hold back the first wave of rioting, you are allowed to heal any prisoners however you cannot let them fulfill any extra needs, and can only take them back to their cells afterwards.

*You cannot create any extra structures after you initiate lockdown, except for floor tiles. You can only repair damaged ones, or remove things.

*Your prison must be possible to enter and exit. This means no cheating by taking advantage of the fact trucks can drive through walls, and any staff member or prisoner, when outside the prison, must be able to be escorted back inside without needing to destroy anything.

That's all the hard rules, though I'd like to add:

You are allowed to use workshops to generate vast amounts of money, but excessive door spam is discouraged (by which I mean a door every tile or so). Try and keep it realistic.

Now, go ahead and create a true maximum security prison! Creating a youtube video or timelapse is heavily encouraged, but a few screenshots would do. I'm rather excited to see what may come out of this :D

easy, 1 entrance/exit with all guards stationed there. Just let the prisoners complain and beat each other up all they want as long as they dont come near the entrance. even 1 prisoner left would generate infinite score as long as he doesnt escape.

Sweet, a little custom "scenario". I like it, hoping to try it out soon

I will post my times and all that sooner or later, thanks for the idea.

Just to verify something - normal doors, set as locked, has the prisoners running straight through them. I.e. they can open them with no problems or complaint. This is how it is or am I having unique issues? :)
(The cell-doors atleast will no open - but they also close slowly making it very easy for prisoners to escape - part of the challenge I suppose.)

Until his constant rioting could eventually have the guards kill him, meaning you get a score of 0...

If this turns out to be a problem I could add another rule, that you must remove guards to always be at most half of your current amount of prisoners, instead of time at lockdown, which means if you every get to a scenario where you only have one prisoner, you cannot have any guards.

Most of the time prisoners aren't killed but only knocked out, and by your rules a knocked out prisoner would still generate score. If you don't have a doctor revive the knocked out prisoners than they wont riot anymore. Itd be possible to have an entire population of unconscious prisoners who do nothing all day except lay around in the medical ward awaiting treatment from doctors who dont exist.

Does this mean we all win with an infinity score now?

Shame, sounded like it would be a lot of fun.

Stop trying to stop loopholes! Just understand my intentions and go forth and create a maximum security prison. New rule: A knocked out prisoner does not contribute at all to score.

lol, wanna know what the most secure prison is in this game? Build a fence around the entire prison, including the road, and don't include a gate. That way, you can accept prisoners, but no one can ever escape. It can jack up the deployment feature (bugs it out), but nonetheless I'm sure the devs never intended for this type of "maximum security" prison lol.

I like this idea! Might have to give it a try when I have some spare time tomorrow.
