Attack dogs

Postby christopher1006 » Sun Oct 07, 2012 3:03 am

I doubt I need to explain what an attack dog is but the question is would you guys actually like to see the ability to have them in here for riots and contraband searches? They'd be effective at both the cons being you have to build kennels for them and pay for their food plus they'd need a vet to heal them as a normal doctor wouldn't generally be effective at it. Also there's a higher chance of pisoners getting seriously injured since the dogs are going to be vicious, what do you guys think about it?

Yeah, but the dogs can instantly be pacified with a few smuggled pieces of bacon. (Yes I know this doesn't work in real life, but it's too good not to include.)

Well, there could be a certain probability that a dog could be calmed with bacon. A slim one, that would be.
And you could build double fenced areas where they patrol. They probably would be able to detect tunneling if it was not too deep...

That is a contraband dog...not an attack dog...

Which would be nifty...make guards slightly worse at finding drug contraband and make dogs really good at it.

well, i never really pictured them inside. but patrolling the parameter / drop-off point for people who fancy their luck at making a run for it.. seems logical, dogs run faster than people and can easily sit on you until a guard comes along :)

a distinction between attack and contraband dogs would be good! they can assist with cell block searches.. at great expense ;)

If the devs are going to go to the trouble of implementing dogs then they might as well have multiple types. Because, I think what this thread is pointing out, is that, there really isn't a dog called an "attack" dog. They are called "Police Dogs." Contraband dogs are called "Sniffer Dogs" or "Detection Dogs."

i could just imagine the dog chasing down an escaped prisoner and dragging him down to the ground before he has the chance to escape. The guards never seem able to catch up to an escaping prisoner, but a dog on the other hand, that would be some sweet sweet justice right there

We've got Guards and Riot Guards, no reason why we can't have this.

I don't really see the benefits of having police dogs aside from contraband searching. They wouldn't be useful in a riot - they're too difficult to control once you let them attack, otherwise we'd see them in use in riots outside of prisons.

I love the idea - if only because of the humorous possibilities and the prison stereotype.

But of course they shouldn't mortally wound inmates, only pacify them... with teeth

I really like this idea, and to merge it slightly with the concept of having different climates - you could really benefit with dogs if you're in a cold climate as they can cope with the temperature, whereas the guards could only stay outside for shorter periods of time before they start to lose the plot.
