[suggestion] Hired staff should arrive on the next day's bus

Postby paktsardines » Mon Oct 08, 2012 7:40 am

I think there should be a delay between when staff are hired and when they arrive. Not only is this more realistic, but it make players need to plan ahead more.

At the moment staff instantly materialise when needed, and players can sack and hire staff to suit the time of day.

Every time you hire staff you pay the cost which is much higher than their upkeep so it's balanced. Also, given you don't know what's on the horizon (for example prisoner intake) and it'd make the game super unresponsive (click and wait a whole day before something happens!), I don't see it being much fun.

I think that it would be a nice addition to the game, however I would find it really annoying having to wait for my staff to appear, especially if there where a riot, and I had to wait a day for more gaurds to come.

I like this idea, +1

Yes it makes staff recruitment much slower, but why is that a bad thing? It encourages better strategic planning from the player.

Agreed, it makes the player plan ahead a little more, which is a good thing I think.

It would be a bit of a pain in the ass but for all the right reasons.

In Dungeon Keeper, one thing i thought was a bit unfair was that when i had enough gold i could spawn an army of imps in very short time.
It's a fair thing to have to wait a bit before the personnel arrive.

"next day bus" = wait 24h until you can get your employees.
Absolutely not.

+1 for Immediate next bus.

I find the ability to pause, and instantly summon an army of (usually useless and unresponsive) guards to stop a riot/escape. Which has never worked for me anyways, the prisoner just walks through the army of guards, as they all wander about.

I like the idea of them appearing on the bus, but not waiting for an entire day for it to happen. As someone said, you're paying over the odds for them to begin with, I think that should earn us the right to have them appear within the hour. That said, it's entirely unrealistic that we can just go and plonk some extra guards down in the kitchen if there's a riot. If they all appeared on the bus together, they would at least have to filter through the prison before they could respond.

I think the most balanced way would be so that any new staff arrive on a supply truck which arrives in an hour or half hour. Like when you need something built it arrives on a truck which arrives in a few ingame hours.
It would make it more realistic and abit more strategic.

Personally I'd like to see this.

This idea reminds me of the staff system on Prison Tycoon: Alcatraz... I like it.
