Bass Boost mod

Postby DoctorMobius » Mon May 28, 2007 9:16 pm

Ever wanted more meaty explosions? Craved an extra low frequency effect on the detonations? Then wait no more... behold my second aural mod: Bass Boost!

Incorporates the stock nuclear blast sound effects with impact explosions and a deeper bass footprint!

I've tested this on both a 2.1 desktop speaker set and my Dolby Digital suround-sound system - both answer the question of "Where's the beef?".

Hey that is great! Activated it and it goes so much better with the action.

But I have a request: Since you obviously are competent with sound editing/synthesizing, are you willing to make a WarGames explosion mod?

So we could hear the same deep bass thumping as it appears in the film when a nuke strikes inside NORAD? I've been wanting that since release and I don't know anyone who to ask.

That would be so freakin awesome, to turn on my biggg ass sound system and give the neighbours multiple quakes each time I play :D :D :D

I've not seen WarGames myself; is it this audio tone that you're after?

yep! That's the one! A really deep thumping. An exact replica would be fantastic.

But also to have some variation, with some bass impacts with a high tone phase down on top and maybe one with a little more depth to it.

I use your explosion mod now and I absolutely love it. The default Defcon sounds are great too, but they never sounded like impacts of any kind. Now, every time a nuke lands I hear the explosion and the mood is more dramatic and violent. And we all agree nuclear violence is GREAT!!! :P

Maybe I am missing something here, but the latest War Games Mod has it pretty much like the original: http://kaisakura.org/cheyenne/woprv9.zip

I agree that the Wargames mod does have the "official" sounding tone. I'm just in the process of merging a 100Hz tone into the current Wargames one now, keeping the initial "woosh" effect. This should satisfy Radiant Caligula's lust for the bass!

I think this is amazing. Could you do soundtracks for the game as well? The background is missing a radar sweep or sonar ping once in a while.

Does the bass feed directly through standard speakers, or does the mod allow for a sub to be used?

Radiant Caligula, you can find the lower frequency impact tone here: Impact Tone.

Sirthomasthegreat, I'm just starting the sonar/radar effects you wanted...
