It's most certainly not from the game soundtrack, and my lyrics searches have turned up nada.

The starting 3d looks like BF2.

That's cause it is BF2. It's got the MEC flag, it's Gulf of Oman ;)

Has anyone heard from him in a while...?

Defcon's soundtrack is amazing, but I want that song to be playing whilst I commence in some GTW.

I actually emailed him several weeks ago about that video and got a quick response. It was through another forum, which I can't remember at the moment.

Umm, it says in the info.txt file in the download the music's from the game 'World Racing 2'

I've got the music from it from a demo of the game, I could probably upload file to rapidshare or somewhere for you to download it.

Here's the music (WMA format): World Racing 2 Theme

Partially related to the topic, but would this in some way be considered cheating during online games? :

The transparant explosion allows you to actually see what lies under those explosions (and thus target further) ;)
I admit it's a bit of a moot point, as the cursor indicates it anyway. Just wanted to make sure it was OK to use it.

As you say, the cursor will point out targets. I don't think that anyone would see it as cheating.

Right, though my impression is that it will help me keep a better oversight of what's going on when a lot of nukes are inbound for a certain area. Especially if those nukes aren't yours.
It's actually quite nice being able to tell how large the pop of a given city still is, all the while it is blowing up. And this is where the transparent explosion "gives you the edge". (seemingly)
