AI and Steam

Postby IgD » Sat Jun 10, 2006 11:36 pm

I finished the game recently. I enjoyed myself overall. Here is some constructive criticism:

First of all, I don't like Steam. I had to get the software using an alternative method and this caused a delay. I'm a big fan of Savage from S2 Games. They use direct download and have been successful. The second comment I have is that the AI needs improvement. Throughout the game the attack program would get stuck. Similiarly I found some areas of the map almost unaccessible because of the buggy AI.

I look forward to a sequel or expansion pack.

You don't have to use Steam. IV ship hardcopies anywhere in the world. See http://store.introversion.co.uk/

I do have to ask, what "alternative method" did you use?

I think the shipped hardcopy was the alternative method hence the mention of a delay and of a alternative direct download distributer. I guess people just dont have any patience these days.

I certainly don't. That's while I'll never be a doctor.

You need lots of patients not patience to be a good doctor

I just bought the game. I've played Uplink before, but never even thought to try Darwinia. I recently saw by chance the game at a local store, and bought it. In uplink there are several mods that actually make the game more usefull (FBI, simply Uplink) Does the same principle apply to Darwinia? Is it worth playing the original game, or should i jump to some mods from the start. Thanks.

Unless you cheat, you can't play mods until you've finished the official storyline/missions.

I'd say play the official missions first - that's what you bought the game for. Think of it as a 'training mode' for the mods. :D
