I guess I should have explained better in the readme - Mac version 1.2.2 won't handle the mod anymore - you've got to get a hold of the the 1.40 beta patch to play the mod, sorry!

Check the Mac Issues forum, and/or the Ambrosia site - or PM xander, maybe he can tell you where to get a copy of it (Don't get mad if he can't, as I sorta volunteered him here without asking him first).

I have heard that the official version of the patch will be released in a week or two, as the final candidate has indeed been sent to Ambrosia for testing.

The most recent patch for the Mac version got swallowed into ASW's testing process. It is no longer available to the public, and has not been since 1.4.0b3 . I can't send anyone a copy of the beta. Sorry. However, the last time I talked to John about it, it sounded like the last version that the beta testers got was a candidate for release. I hope that means that the new patch will be out in a week or two. Until that happens, I am afraid that there is not much that you can do.

trickfred: what is it about EW that precludes version 1.2.2? 1.2.2 should ignore difficulty settings, and RunningProgram sections (though, if you use RunningProgram sections, the running programs won't show up, which could break the mod). The only thing that will cause Darwinia to crash outright, I think, is the RocketSystem.

How about ShowDarwinLogo?

Edit: Part 1 doesn't use RunningPrograms, I don't believe, but Part 2 does, so it'd be broken right from the first level.

To expand on that for Mac users that didn't get in on the 1.4 beta patch: in the Scripts directory for the mod, open mp1138_intro.txt, and delete the line that says 'ShowDarwinLogo' (or comment it out by placing a # at the beginning of the line), and save the script. Once 1.4 is out for the Mac, you should be able to restore that line.

If I had known links to the 1.4 beta patches were going to be removed before the official patch came out, I might have waited to release that update.... but whatever, there's your fix. Let me know if it works - and like I said above, Part 2 won't work as-is until you can get the 1.4 patch, beta or official.

Dude, chill! :D It's nowhere near playable. And after the terrible launches of the first two parts and all the fixes I had to make, I'm not letting ANYONE play this until I'm sure I've found all the problems I can.

Oh, and what I thought was the last level, isn't anymore.

Would you just chill out for one minute and think before you post? Look at how old this thread is. The original Enemy Within came out what, a year ago? In that time, trickfred has dealt with a major computer crash. Furthermore, hard as it may be for you to believe, trickfred does have a life outside of EW. He has a job, and a family, and other hobbies. He will finish EWIII when he finishes it. Until that time -- STFU. There are many of us who have been waiting for more than a year for the rest of EW. If we can wait without being annoying, surely you can, too, given that you have only been waiting for a couple of weeks...

Thanks, xander. I am working on it, honestly - but some days I only get 15-20 minutes, sometimes no time at all. I've also been dealing with a lot of real life issues lately that, frankly, if I were in someone else's shoes, I really wouldn't care about (which is why I don't mention them), but there it is - if I could devote 12 hours a day to the mod until it was done, well... I'd still want to go outside once in a while. :D And coming up with level ideas that already haven't been done twelve times (yet another mine/yard/generator level, yet another biosphere level) is not easy when you don't want your mod to look like you threw the whole thing together in a day. Plus, my backstory's getting a little more complicated, and I want the mod to make at least a modicum of sense, which means writing it around the game's various bugs/inconsistencies.

If anyone sees any problems with the latest versions of Parts 1 and 2, now's your chance to let me know - I've got very small updates ready to go that will be uploaded to stellarmatter and mirrors once Part 3 is completed, and I'd really kinda like to finally sound off on them for good (other than updates to reflect game patch changes).

Now that you mention is, I didn't like the camera position that shows you the research cube in B8ckd00r (?). There is a large pillar of land that covers half of the screen, and the research cube for "the message" is a long way off, making it unclear what the objecive is. However, this is only a minor, niggling little thing, and not really a bug :)

Edit: Doh - Added that extra land tile, but never noticed it blocked the camera. :oops:
